When you think about the finals in 2013, I used to think winning one more for Timmy this year would erase last year's heartbreak... but would it really?

Think about the cir stances. We were undefeated in the finals going into 2013. We were looked at as the squad that always found a way to win the le and were "unbeatable" due to our fundamentals and the, even then older Timmy Duncan playing clutch as in the finals. We would have been 5-0 in the finals, with Duncan and Pop leading the way. Ginobili and Parker would have had their fourth. A dynasty would have been solidified. LeBron would have been 1-3 in the finals, and wouldn't have been this polarizing figure like he is now. LeBron would never be placed ahead of Timmy D in the all-time rankings.

Duncan would have been going for his 6th le this year, tying MJ.

Duncan, Ginobili and Parker each had their fantastic game in the finals (Duncan's being emotional). Once I saw him drop 25 points like we've seen him do all too many times in clutch games, I thought it was over.

So my question to you is, does the 2014 le (if we win) really make up for what was lost in 2013?

To me it is so much more than the le, but that our big 3's legacy was actually damaged a good bit. Not the same being 5-0 in the finals as it is being 4-1.

no, nothing will erase the pain of losing the 2013 finals even if the Spurs went on to win back to back les. However its over, its done with, there is nothing any of us can do to change it, the only thing you can do is move forward and try and win it all this year. I believe this Spurs team is doing that

What pisses me off even more is that the Spurs had the chance to stop all of the LBJ ****sucking. Can't even turn on the TV without seeing about 45 different LBJ commercials. Makes me sick.

Yeah, it'll help. 5-1 is way better than 4-1, especially considering Kobe has five

    I wasn't a spurs fan when .4 happened, but I can't imagine it being comparable to 6

0.4 wasn't an elimination game. Then again, neither was 6.

Def felt like it. We could have still won in game 7, but Bron went off.

99 didn't erase the heartache of watching the Rockets hoist the trophy in the mid nineties. A LOB this year would be tremendous but I don't think I'll ever be able to watch a replay of the end of game 6 without feeling at least a little punch in the gut.

For us as fans yes, but for other fans of other teams in sports I am sure they can relate to something similar if they are fans enough.

I won't forget it but a trophy sure as would go a long ways of easing that sting up.

That would have been a threepeat! If you want to feel even worse if Manu doesn't foul Dirk on that play (I know Manu went off and the only reason we had the lead late but) the Spurs could and probably would have won 4 damn les in a row I seriously doubt we beat the Pistons that year though becuase they were on a flat out roll (We did not have Nazr yet who helped alot vs them or Barry) so the Spurs would probably have lost a finals alot earlier and they would probably just have threepeated after. 4 les in a row was definitely possible though.

What was "lost" in the NBA is the common occurrence. It's what happens to 29 out of 30 teams every season.

IMO, what needs to be appreciated is the uncommon, or, in other words, what was won... which is no slouch

Yep. To think nearly a decade later we'd still be competing for a le with the same core is just amazing. Some don't know how good we've had it man. Whether we win another one or not, i've been spoiled as a fan to have a team that knows how to play basketball the right way.

    Technically, the Spurs should have 8 les: 99, 03-07, 12 and 13.

Nothing in life ever works out the way it ideally should. 4 out of 8 isn't bad. One more would be perfect closure.
