Hopefully next game Ayres will play lights out and Baynes will play like , so then Pop will start playing Baynes more

I don't think it's a coincidence the team has been on a le drought since '08. Seems like every year since that year Pop gets completely hung up on one or two dipsticks that eventually drag the team down just enough to keep the spurs from winning championships with the most frustrating part being that there have been younger more talented players with bigger upsides sitting and rotting on the bench who just needed a little playing time but didn't get it thanks to Pop's obsessions with these schmucks. Pendergraph = the new Bonner/Blair (at the expense of Baynes) and speaking of shmucks keep an eye out for Joseph's playing time to also be increased at the expense of Mills.
Tbh, I can't decide who was more painful to watch last night: Airs, or Hllins.... could be worse though, Spurfan, you guys didn't have to sit through BlowJob Mullens' brick chucking and terrible defense for weeks on end

It's early in the regular season. It's about giving guys run to see what they can do. If Ayres isn't cutting it late in the season I'm sure his minutes will be minimal.
I really have no idea. His main use imo would be for his fouls to hack Dwight Howard. That's about it.
He should clearly be in the D league right now working on point blank field goal attempts and learning how to play basketball. If there's ever a raw Spur player who has no positive traits to warrant playing time, Ayres is the guy. I mean Neal had attrocious defense but at least he could shoot like a dream sometimes. Bonner can at least shoot threes. Ayres has no real saving graces besides his age, which is meaningless if he doesn't improve.
Send this guy to the D League and maybe he'll improve enough to use in the postseason.
You forgot worst Spurs record ever. . . .
. . .The one year he coached without Duncan.
Pop's a good coach though, I ain't gonna sit here and bash the guy. He isn't infallable, but can you even list 3 active coaches you'd rather have? 2? Even 1?
pleasuring Pop nonstop during training camp. ing pender
Standing? ....Maybe?
Yes. But he did get them there. You can't be within a win of a le with 82 games and winning 3 rounds of basketball. Look, I don't love the guy but he did lead them to 2 les.
At least Blair could score....
Doesn't matter really. It's the RS and come PO time scrub Ayres will be riding the pine next to other scrubs.
Sucks for Baynes who had absolutely no burn whatsoever and won't have any as we approach playoffs. Rotations will shrink and Ayres will have stolen almost 2 million of the spurs money.
This is a scandal tbh. Guy is playing more than rookie Splitter? It's ing disgusting what's going on... Definitely some Sandusky going down in the locker room, there's no other rational explanation.
**** Pop for playing this scrub and **** Buford for that ty off season when he managed to find a worse version of Blair for twice the money...
Still no reliable PG, still no backup SF. Scandalous, I get that they were depressed after the Finals and all and have a tendency to drink but they have to come out of apologize to Tim and TP who took less money to play for a contender. Terrible stuff, the guys who left money on the table should be angry as about what happened this summer.
Maybe losing games will prompt Pop to play Baynes or even Thomas.
Dude, Fisher was the leader of the Lakers team even when Shaq was there. He ran Phil's triangle offense to perfection. Kobe has never won a championship without Fisher. When Fisher left the 1st time, the Lakers sucked, when Fisher left the 2nd time, the Lakers suck and both times they had Kobe and Odom or Kobe and Gasol.
As for Pop, he has done a great job with the Spurs. Nobody wins a championship every year. This isn't the 50-60's Celtics era where Russell, Havilchek, Ramsey, Cousy & co. completely dominated the league. Those teams had like 6 HOF players in their prime on their roster.
There are so many great players who played together for years and still couldn't win multiple championships.
I'm all for Pop doing the Baynes or Thomas experiment for the next 20 games over Ayres. Time for another player to get the playing time.
People bash on Pop, but he gets the most out of his plays and manages PT well so that even as these guys get older, they are still able to have vintage games
If Pop really wanted to experiment, he would give Baynes time next to Duncan. That would be a useful experiment, because even though Pop might have his suppositions, he doesn't have proof. Splitter getting time next to Duncan took over 2 years to get a real opportunity. , Pop's refusal to try it had plenty on this board convinced they couldn't play together. Well, they sure as could.
I think that since Boylen backed Pendy, Pop is giving Pendy all the chances in the world just to support Boylen.
Doubt it. He is stubborn and will stick to his guns.
in all the spurs game Ayres played. one positive about his game is he could position himself to be open near the basket, but the problem is he has butterfingers, what's the use of being free if you can't handle the ball resulting to a turnover or a miss free dunk/lay up. i think he should put alot of stickum powder or pro grip in his hands or for maximum effectivity put some Gorilla Glue![]()
