MJ will be blowing up Kobe's phone soon..... ;-)
it's a slow methodical process (including the le chase) but Mamba getting ready the leave MJ's in the dirt yet again as he already passed him up in ASG points past year now I can't wait to see the headlines that read:
NBA All-time scoring:
Kobe 32,293
MJ 32,292

He already passed MJ in:
Games played - 1245 vs. 1072
Missed FGs - 13319 vs. 12345
Missed 3pters - 3255 vs. 1197
Turnovers - 3753 vs. 2924
Fouls - 3173 vs. 2783
Too bad he won't catch him in the most important category...rings.

Got MJ with
Rape - 1 vs 0
Championships carried by Shaq/MVPau - 4 vs 0
he also has a higher share of rings where he wasn't the finals mvp
I'm actually curious to see what happens with the media reaction. There's going to be plenty of people trumpeting his praises and there's plenty to be had. , just being good enough to hang on in the league for 1200+ games is pretty damn impressive, let alone to have been playing at a pretty damn high level for most of those. Many times though this board has been a good enough cross section of fans that it's a pretty good indicator of how sports fans in general are reacting to news and often that's reflected in the news coverage somehow.
I think back on when the latest round of record breaking seasons by NFL quarterbacks. As Brees and Manning and Brady have been adding their names to the records in general it's been a fair amount of debate as to how they rank between the three of them but few if any that are trying to say they don't deserve "elite" status. There were a smattering of purists who pointed out that in Elway and Marino's day the nature of the game was different, but just enough that the point was heard rather than creating a major point of dissent. I don't remember seeing a lot of ready made infographics detailing how rules have changed for DBs or how much more pass happy the NFL is now than 20 years ago. This could that rare occasion where a guy getting passed in the record books makes him even more relevant if only for a moment.
Well, Kobe Bryant can still try buying an NBA team and surpassing Michael Jordan as a competent owner. Those are much smaller shoes to fill in.
LOL @ ASG points. don't get me wrong, catching MJ in points is a of a feat....but seriously, using any kind of all star stats to rank players?
Well, Kirby already marginalized Havlicek with the all-time bricks record last year![]()
and of course, the video that shuts off this case

tbh you can find pretty much any nba sg/sf in those poses
oooh a left handed dribble... such mj wow
good son +10 points
We knew it'd be just a matter of time for him to surpass Jordan given the number of shots he jacks up per game
Kirby has only marginalized himself by shooting his achilles out of the gym
Capri hyping up a glass chucker who will never touch mj
