Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Thinks Black People Were Happy Before the Civil Rights Movement
    Source: E! Online

When it comes to expressing his thoughts, Phil Robertson clearly isn't limited to just sharing his views on sexuality.

In the January issue of GQ, the Duck Dynasty star also comments on growing up in a pre-civil-rights-era Louisiana.

"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person," Robertson claims. "Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotten with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash."

He adds, "They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people'—not a word!... Pre-en lement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

Guess Anti-gay agenda Phil doesn't remember segregated bathrooms and schools...In Shreveport, the Third National flag of the Confederacy flies directly in front of the district courthouse. The flag is symbolic of the widespread disenfranchisement of African-American jurors, and the second-class justice afforded African-American defendants throughout the deep South. Worse still, the flag discourages African-American involvement in the justice system and diminishes the actual quality of justice provided...Ah, the good old days when slaves were happy and didn't complain (because they would be killed) - and then everyone else could be happy about subjugating them. How we long for those good old days again ...

Ted Cruz can't wait to jump on this bandwagon either..Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Thursday defended 'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson after he was suspended from the television show for making controversial anti-gay remarks in an interview with GQ magazine.
"If you believe in free speech or religious liberty, you should be deeply dismayed over the treatment of Phil Robertson. Phil expressed his personal views and his own religious faith; for that, he was suspended from his job," Cruz wrote on his Facebook page. "In a free society, anyone is free to disagree with him--but the mainstream media should not behave as the thought police censoring the views with which they disagree."

Cruz argued that people love 'Duck Dynasty' because it shows a family open about its faith.

"The reason that so many Americans love Duck Dynasty is because it represents the America usually ignored or mocked by liberal elites: a family that loves and cares for each other, believes in God, and speaks openly about their faith," Cruz wrote. Cruz has expressed his love for the reality show before. He talked about the "God-fearing" family "who love guns" during his September talkathon on the Senate floor.

What an asshat....right to work laws which Cruz loves gives A and E the leverage to fire Phil...besides, Phil's views are not being censored; but his words to have consequences...

Slavery ended almost a 100 years before this dude was born but don't let that get in the way of your faux outrage.

It's standard "Christian" Southern Baptist/Confedereate revisionism that blacks were happy, fulfilled as slaves, and welfare, same kind of lie by calling the Civil War the War of Northern Aggression. (it was actually the false flaggin Yankees who fired on Fort Sumter )

Right-wing racist, hate machine is trying to exonerate Robertson for his LGBT hate and misogyny by saying he's just being a good Bible-humping "Christian".

Robertson Family Issues Statement on Duck Dynasty’s Future

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his cons utionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

I believe that a private company can fire (or refuse business to) anybody for their personal beliefs, and we all know that is certainly the case in America today.

If A&E didn't want this to happen they should have never bought the show.

Especially if it makes the employers look like they are backing racist phobes. The racist phobe label is apparently not good for business... I wonder, what's up with that?

sure it does. A&E must know their audience, and obviously, they know that the majority their audience isn't Louisiana-racist/ phobe/Bible-humper. Giving Confederate/Christian racists/ phobes a platform is obviously not good for business.

I did hear one observation that the Robertson's racist/ phobe/white-trash positions are much more the REALITY of the rural/Confederate/Christian assholes than the DD bogus reality show, as bogus as all the reality shows.

    Pastor Phil preaching Christ's love

Phil Robertson demonized LGBT people in 2010 sermon: ‘They invent ways of doing evil’

“First they say, ‘There is no God. Get him out of your mind,’” Robertson said, waving a Bible. “Then they bow down to birds, animals and reptiles, and each other, and the first thing you see coming out of that book is gross sexual immorality.”

“Women with women, men with men, they committed indecent acts with one another, and they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions,” Robertson said.

“They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil. That’s what you have 235 years, roughly, after your forefathers founded the country.”

I'm no so sure about that. That show had mass appeal.

Why do all sorts of ty shows get good ratings? It's what a lot of people want to see.

I read an article a while back that said that black nuclear families existed way more before the civil rights movement compared to now(what is it now, like 70 % of black children live without their father?). Also, less drugs, alcoholism and violence within their communities. Nowadays they're a lot more wealthier( if you count foodstamps and subsidized housing as wealth) as they get more financial and educational opportunities, but there families have suffered for some reason. This "civil rights" movement didn't really help them in the grand scheme of things. If you count rap music, opportunities in the NFL/NBA and es n Blunts as progress, in exchange for destroying their nuclear families, you'll don't have any morals. I would prefer my mom n dad all day over this bs so called black culture nowadays. Also, Black music(black rock n roll, jazz, blues, etc) before the civil rights movement >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>gangsta rap/hip hop.

Assume you were a relatively public figure at your place of work and were quoted saying the same thing in an interview with a national magazine. What would happen to you?
