What are you on about? I'm pretty sure the Celtics never made the finals after Thibodeau left?
    2009-10?

seems like the spurs are just waiting for the play offs......
So they want to wait and lose home court advantage in the process?

Wow. What a take. With Harden, OKC would be in the Finals every season. We would be seeing some epic OKC/Miami Finals series if Harden stuck around and most likely win a championship with the decline of LeBron/Wade. Instead, they'll just keep losing in the Finals at best and KD/Russ will bolt from that small market.
This sounds like a typical dumb post w/o any logic.

They'd make the Finals "every season" with him?!?

Last year w/o Harden they had their best record in the Durant/Westbrook era, and will probably win more than that this year. Durant might end up winning MVP and Westbrook is a better PG than he was 2 years go.

The average contender team has just 2 superstars anyway, Durant and Westbrook don't need Harden anymore to carry the team.

No matter how anyone slices it, this was an embarrassing loss. It's early in the season yes but no self respecting elite team should be 0-7 vs other elite teams at this point in the season and how can we expect to have home court in the playoffs if we keep doing this? The rockets looked so much faster, while we could barely keep up with them while working hard for shots. They looked flat out superior to us in every facet of the game
6-7 against + .500 teams, but the main problem is the lack of athletic players to go toe against these teams during 48 minutes

The top teams in the West: OKC, Portland, and Houston, all present bad matchups for the Spurs. Unfortunate for the Spurs. They desperately need a trade especially with the decline of Parker/Leonard/Green/Splitter. We still have a lot of time to improve at least.

I won't quit on the team but damn right now things are looking kinda bleak. ty end to a fun Christmas.
Define quitting because I'm a Spur for life through the past good and any bad that might come, but I don't feel like this team can get it done.

Tony Parker is our best player and that is not gonna cut it. If we aren't gonna win against the league leaders, I'd rather see Baynes, Mills, Thomas and Kawhi get major burn so we can see what we have in these relative unknowns. I don't want to watch what I've been seeing this season. I don't care whether we win or lose against the Raptors, Hawks or even the Clippers because those games don't matter. We aren't winning against the other winners and that isn't likely to change as we are currently operating.

If we aren't gonna beat Portland, Miami, Indiana, Houston or OKC regardless, I'd rather see the unknowns and preserve Tim's and Manu's career numbers.

I know this opinion isn't popular, but it's the right one unless we are going to see a noticeable uptick in Tim's offense and an astounding uptick in Parker's all-around game as we approach the end of the season.

Spurs couldn't even make back to back Finals with the big 3 in their primes but we're supposed to do it this season? Come on man. I love the Spurs and I know I'm annoying but come on man.

    Lost what battle?

OKC is still the best team in the Western Conference w/o Harden.

The Clippers w/ Doc Rivers will be a tougher matchup for San Antonio.

Houston is a terrible matchup for San Antonio.

These are the only things I've said on this topic.

The West is in an era of weak compe ion. OKC keeps their Durant/Harden/Westbrook core, they would make the Finals every season.

And everyone knows that OKC was fighting hard for the #1 seed last season. You're ing telling me they are better suited with having Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb over James Harden, the best SG in the league?!

Good points tbh. Idk why some are so confident that we would just run over the Clippers. If anything they're younger and more athletic. Also Griffin has improved this season. Jackson is also coming along nicely with OKC. He's no Harden but with a prime Durant and Westbrook they don't need him to be.

if we had to invest scrubs like nando and Ayres, two or three most athletic players (in aminu line, derrick williams, ariza, Ilyasova)'d be going again facing against elite teams, the change seems small but it would make all the difference

The Spurs are struggling, no doubt. They aren't the Heat. They can't afford to coast and suddenly be ready to turn it up in the playoffs.

I do think it's still early for a meltdown and to quit on the team. Not implying you are, but that seems like the case for this forum.

I didn't say the Clippers would make it out the West, I said they have a better chance at beating the Spurs in a 7 game series this year.

Idk man, Doc isn't all that but for some reason the Spurs look lost against young athletic teams this season. Griffin also seems to have improved. Its still December so hopefully its just fatigue or something. IDK.

are you really using the regular season as your argument?! OKC had their best season when Harden was there. They made the NBA Finals. What did they accomplish last year?

Of course, OKC was gonna come out firing after losing in the Finals. They said they wanted the #1 seed and they got it. The main thing I'm saying here is that they would have been better off with Harden and could have possibly gotten a championship after Miami started their decline. Instead, they'll make the Finals at best (Miami looks like the favorite to 3peat and they are a terrible matchup for OKC) and keep losing until KD or Russ leaves the team and they will start from scratch with no championship.

I agree with you but the Spurs clearly have problems right now. Parker/Green/Leonard have all regressed. The Spurs still don't have that 3 and D type of player they desperately need and they are struggling against teams they will most likely face in the playoffs. The only encouraging things have been the play of Manu/Marco/Diaw/Patty.
I think all of three of them will be fine when April comes around. Leonard should get more plays run for him. Parker does look like he is going through the motions, but I don't think he isn't 100% and I hope Pop is telling Green to work on his driving game during regular season games, so if what happened in Miami happens again he will be more prepared because he isn't shooting a lot of the three's he was making or even shooting last year. I still think we need one more guy on this team to make it us complete, but I think the whole losing to elite teams is stupid. Miami did the same crap in 2010, and they at least made the finals. We will be fine, if they were playing like this in early April yeah I would be start getting worried.

Didn't Westbrook get injured in the 1st round last year?

How do you know OKC wouldn't have killed San Antonio again last year?

The Clippers are one of the teams I'm least afraid of in a series. They would be the easiest opponent for the Spurs out of the top West teams. Griffin is good, but he's not a deadly jump shooter.

Just because they'd be the least threatening doesn't mean they'd be any easier.

By the way, how many did the Clippers win by last time they faced the Spurs?
