all those new sites are just gimmicks and trending
just another scheme to make another clown rich, then move onto the next trending site
With the younger generations leaving Facebook in droves, can the social media site survive catering to older users?

Young people now see the site as "uncool" and keep their profiles live purely to stay in touch with older relations, among whom it remains popular.
Professor Daniel Miller of University College London, an anthropologist who worked on the European Union-funded research, wrote in an article for the academic news website The Conversation: "Mostly they feel embarrassed even to be associated with it.
"This year marked the start of what looks likely to be a sustained decline of what had been the most pervasive of all social networking sites.

Not on FB anymore, that
But It did help me find/get back in touch with people I haven't seen in a loooong time; for that, FB has been great, I admit
Bot other than that, FB tbh
Oh, and this part of the article :
Researchers found Twitter broadcasted to anyone who chose to follow that person.
Wow, no
vine is creeping up now...3rd best short clip streaming
yet porno sites never get credited...lmao
They do have the money.
Who will be the next big IPO stock deal...
LinkedIn is the social media site I see falling apart before facebook ever does. Its price is a lot more inflated than facebook's is and facebook has actually justified its IPO price with its revenue growth. The site's idea had great potential but people have gone so overboard doing gimmicky things to beef up their profile that you can't even take it seriously anymore. People think spending hours on end updating their linkedin profile is a productive use of time, as if Blackstone and The Carlyle Group are gonna be breaking down your door with an offer because your friend Tommy Jonas, Motivated and Passionate Liberal Arts Graduate, has endorsed your knowledge of Investment Banking and Buy-Side Private Equity Transactions.
But they don't set trends...the younger generation does that..and who is to say that the older generation won't eventually move on to something else too...
Seems like people I know get older and keep their FB account just to do it. It is good for keeping in touch with old friends that are distant now. Maybe that was its fate all along.
Agreed. I'm on Linked in but really haven't been able to discern any real benefit.
Agreed, though I do maintain a profile still just for the rare occasion, tbh.
Very much agree. I've used it a little and can't find a single use for it, tbh.
Yes Linkedin is full of annoying pompous assholes, true
Useful if you are a recruiter though
What else?
Are seniors wearing skinny jeans too?
Only benefit I've seen is adding higher up people I work with but work in another city. Ever since I added a few of them on linkedin they've trusted me with more responsibilities and it's because prior to that they had no idea what my background was. That's pretty much the opposite of what most people on linkedin do though.
What else indeed...What else?
No, I was asking you what else older people would start using because the young people "set the trends."
Explain.
and I'm telling you if I knew the next big thing for older adults I would be trying to get in on it...facebook for adults will someday wear thin too..
I'm not too sure of that. It's pretty effective as a media for keeping in touch with extended family.
