Sign of the times in the NBA. That would be a record if every team reaches 60 wins.

Portland is 16-1 against the East, with 13 remaining games. Save for 2 against Miami and Indiana. They could easily go 10-3 or better. Also they still play a total of 27 home games. They are drastically better at home. At this point i'd say its about 50/50. Baring injuries of course.

They're running their starters into the ground faster than any other team. No way they get through without at least one guy going down to injury.

Out of all those teams I consider maybe the Pacers and maybe Portland being the only ones that do it since they are considerably young and have something to prove which really doesn't amount to much. Miami will rest starters and they don't care if they are #1 seed, same with the Spurs. Westbrook being out will make OKC a lock for 50+ but not 60

I think OKC looked pretty good without Westbrook the last games ... at the beginning of the season it was a Problem, but now their second unit Looks much more comfortable and Durant Plays out of his mind. They could have beaten Portland if Brooks had brought the Starters back into the game earlier in the 4th. Thus, I could still see them get 60 wins ...

When their legs go, so will their jumpers. They'll be left with nothing but that crap defense.

Doesn't matter. Miami with 10-1 vs >.500 teams is a juggernaut. No one cares what the records are going to be if you cannot get out of the 1st round.

The Blazers have the 4th youngest team in the league. They will have no problem keeping up this pace. I think the Spurs are due for a losing streak though.

With the at ude around here, you'd think that's all we've been doing. By the way, that's was quite a game the other night. My thing with the Blazers though is that they take so many 3's and jumpshots that they forget they have the best PF in the league down low and totally zone him out. Sure i mean right now the 3 balls and jumpers are going in, and even if they aren't the blazers still shoot and shoot and shoot. They need to feed LA more especially down the stretch. Dude is Mr. Efficient right now.

Only teams that look like they'll legit win 60 games are the Heat, the Pacers and the Spurs. OKC will be missing RWB for a while and Portland is........Portland...

I think the only ways that Miami and Indiana don't get well beyond 60 is if either suffers major injuries and/or one somehow separates from the other in the standings. They each play 52 of their 82 games against the East. Even if they stumble against some of the West teams, they can make up serious ground on the 60 win plateau just by doing what they should against their own conference. And since Indiana seems to think it will need HCA to win the East, I can't see the Pacers letting up just because they've clinched various things; Miami's good enough that it could let off the gas a bit and still push Indiana for HCA all the way to the end of the season.

LaMarcus gets plenty of touches. He's our leading scorer obviously. We shoot a lot of threes because that is how our offense is designed. We always have 3 excellent 3 point shooters in the game.

They faded badly last year with essentially the same team and strategy.

Wrong. We had no center and the worst bench in the league. We addressed both of those issues in the offseason.

The invisible bench that never plays as your starters play as many minutes, if not more, than last year.

Could this have more to do with the crappy state of the NBA? There are a lot of BAD teams right now.

I'm not here to defend tlong or the Blazers, but it's notable that the Blazers are 4-1 now against the 4 other teams on 60-win paces and would be 5-0 if Bosh hadn't made that ridiculous 3 a few days ago.

That doesn't imply sustainability over the long haul, but it does suggest that the Blazers have earned what they've gotten so far.

Spurs were on pace to break their franchise record midway through last season. Parker missed 8 straight games and a few more after a brief return to the lineup.

Leonard, Jackson, Duncan and Ginobili all missed at least 12 games last season. With Diaw missing the final 2 weeks. With the league not nearly as compe ive and the Spurs (hopefully) healthy for the entire season. It would more of a surprise if they don't win at least 60. We finished with 58 wins last season.

Conversely the league will probably have a record number of teams below 30 wins

There seems to be no middle ground this year...only the good & the bad/ugly

Despite the hate tlong gets around here I really like watching this Blazers team. If the Spurs get knocked out I'll totally root for them. Always liked LaMarcus as I'm a Longhorn fan, and even though I've never been to Portland it totally shares a similar vibe with Austin, aka. buncha hippies like me. Those jailblazer teams were totally out of place in that town, glad that era is over and those fans have something to celebrate again.
