IMO, eye test, he looks far better. His leaping ability is back to about 2007 levels. His passing is better. His stamina late in games. Their guard rotation is RH best it's ever been. It'll show when things settle down in April.

Numbers wise, couldn't tell you. Eye test wise? Not close, again, jmo.
Getting embarrassed in the Finals, being called a sellout loser, and taking a summer off can do wonders for one's desire to be better than "so so".

Oh, but he is worthy of being a starter, right?

    Eyeroll.
you're just mad that kawhi isn't playing up to your expectations this season while all your predictions about Ginobili being done are being thrown right back in your face. No need to hate, he's playing well. I bet everytime Ginobili has a good game you cringe about how wrong you were, but then put on a mask and start talking mess on ST.

That's where I'm at. I think the deal stinks, and I'm just left hoping that he finds the same "second wind" in his career that Timmy experienced last year. Because one thing is clear...there is no one on this roster as it's currently cons uted to take Manu's role away from him. Spurs second unit is going to live and die by Manu.

God help us. I'll be praying (in vein?) for a re-energized, healthy Manu.
Looks like my prayers are paying off fwiw tbqh.

I haven't checked the per-minute numbers last year pre-injury vs this year so far, but maybe you're right. However, I seem to remember him playing pretty damn well pre-injury last year.
He was up and down last season... he had games where his shooting percentage (over 50%) and per-minute production was great but when you look into the numbers he only attempted 4 shots that game... I agree with you it's early, and that the injuries last season messed him up not just physically but mentally too. Let's just hope he can keep it going and that the rest of the team follows suit.

    Looks great, tbh.

He's been the best player for the Spurs this year. I'm always just worried he's going to end up getting injured though.

every time he drives to the rim I ask my T.v. " are you ok Manu ? "
when he lands from the shot attempt.

Oh he is still done. Miami will give him another beating should we make it that far... Last night he turned into braindead mode and threw the game for us, per par...tbqh fwiw.

Strangely, that was my favorite part of the game. Seeing him go for it. The Manu I knew for so long...until last year and "so so".

I personally don't think he didn't have the desire.

Eight turnovers in Game Six alone. Verdict: Lack of desire.

The idiot was MyFace 'ing his Finals jersey before we even played! He was satisfied with getting there. Winning wasn't on his brainlocked radar. Epic fail!

Again last year Manu started well too, Manu not done as a full RS and POs player still need to be seen. But yes his start of the season is well above my expectations.
How? With Manu, injuries play a huge role in his ability to play effectively. He's broken down before and the risk is still great with him, even this year.

I agree it's proved he's not done in the sense that if he's healthy he is still able to produce (albeit in very limited managed minutes), but overall it's still early.
Those comments I quoted were written in the sense that it was a foregone conclusion that Manu was done. That has been proved to be wrong no matter what happens from now on.

How the are you gonna say Manu didn't want it and that he was just happy to get there? You claim he was your favorite player at one point, but clearly you don't know him as a player very much to suggest he didn't want it enough. It's funny that everyone within the Spurs organization has claimed that Manu is one of the fiercest compe ors of all time and yet you claim to know for a fact that he just didn't want to win. You are such a got it's actually hysterical, and I mean that whole heartedly.

How can your favorite player, who has come through for us time and time again, all of a sudden after one sub par series in which he was definintely more banged up than he led on suddenly become someone you rip on time and time again. Jesus christ I understand being disappointed in him, I was too and it really did hurt watching my favorite player (him and Tim are tied for that spot in my mind) play so poorly. But I didn't for a second wish he signed somewhere else or rip on him. You know why? Because he's my favorite player and I am a loyal fan. Not some pathetic piece of calling for the dudes head on some forum 24/7 even when he's playing well.

Why aren't you even remotely mad at Kawhi for missing a free throw? Sure he's a young player but that shot would have made the difference. How about being mad at Tim for missing a layup that would have tied the game and given us hope going forward in that game to pull it off.

Fiercest compe or? Lmao. Bonner is a fierce compe or, too. Did not see him passing wildly to the wrong team or forgetting how to dribble the ball! Compe iveness is no excuse for brainlessness.

Old Manu would have ripped himself for his play. New Manu says, eh, so so. Gtfo with your weak sauce.

More banged up than he let on? Revisionist history. He stated emphatically he was fine physically.

Manu blew it with eight turnovers and tons of horrible bricks early in the shot clock. Leonard is the only reason we were even in the game. Manu does his job and stays moderately under control and Leonard can miss all his FTs. Meanwhile, mister moneybags missed one to win it himself.

Manu's epic failure and inexplicably horrid mistakes put us in the position to lose. We had no margin for error thanks to the one man wrecking crew Ginobili. It will take a lot more than some regular season flashes against scrub teams to convince me he still has it. Your take: Fail.

Fair enough. There were those that thought that even if Manu was fully healthy he couldn't produce at a high level. He has proved that wrong.
