There is a difference predicting what may happen and simply bragging about it.

DD is the former while Kool is the latter with his endless talk that completely and utterly backfired on him.

Most everyone thought Lakers were a serious threat so its not hard to see why someone would say they would ring given that you had quite the superteam that could have inflicted some heavy damage.
