I really hope JR Smith isn't going to happen, unless what Bruno said or Pop has a pretty good idea of what he's getting out of this. I suppose there is a possibility Smith will live up to his potential like former Spurs, but Smith is such a glorious dumbass, I don't see him being a good fit.

We've seen how clowns play out in the Spurs system with the SJax fiasco. Pop is too stubborn to let any players ego outweigh the game or the system. For that reason alone, I don't think there's a chance in that they trade for him.

Though NY could use a playmaker like Nando and giving a Miami compe or a leg up might be strategically sound, we have enough shooters and I don't know that Smith brings anything else to the table.

I ain't buying it, why would the Spurs want a headcase like Smith?

How the is JR smith even tied to the spurs? Because some idiot on page 3 thought he'd be a good fit on the spurs? Give me a god damn break. The guy doesn't even fill any of the teams needs. In addition, he's a liability on defense. Give me a guy like Aminu any day of the week!

I think Spurs should target a smaller trade for a SF or mobile PF where they won't have to give up too much. Players like Mike Dunleavy, Brandon Bass, Marvin Williams or Tayshaun Prince are all good targets for me. It will allow Spurs to improve the end of their rotation without giving up too much to do so.
I can see why Dunleavy, Bass, or Prince might be relatively cheap because they still have a couple years on their contracts and we could offer expirings, but Williams is in his final year... would a little savings and second round pick get it done for him?

    all of you

    It's not like he's RJ's gay ass.

Headcase. Two more years and over 12 million( even mentioning the idea of him forfeiting that final year). 15% trade kicker.

    Not happening.

He's not playing because he's a distraction to his team. He probably gets traded but I doubt we are even in the mix.

Bogans' dust chip contract is pretty awesome. He can take back $7.6 Million for his completely unguaranteed deal next season.

I was under the impression that Hollins was not rehired because of money. The Grizzlies wanted to give him a moderate raise and Hollins wanted a substantial raise. Hollins was given permission to shop himself elsewhere and the Grizzlies took the in-house inexpensive replacement.
It wasn't money. The Grizz hired John Hollinger, the prince of advanced metrics, for their front office. Hollins was old school and scoffed at anything of the sort.

Unbelievable that he was making BANK to be a trade throw in, and couldn't just roll with it and keep his trap shut.

Utah might be interested in Joseph or De Colo and saving a little money is always nice. Now, I'm not saying they will do it and that's why I've given multiple names (there might also be other interesting target, the list isn't exhaustive). Among all these players, one might be available for a package that doesn't include a first round pick or the rights to Bertans or Jean-Charles.

Berger did say the Spurs were being "unusually aggressive." In my mind that means they might be willing to give up a bit more in a trade than you're suggesting, but only if it brings back the right player, I suppose. An end of the rotation player certainly seems more likely.

After last nights loss to the Bobcats. A game that he didn't play.

Jr. Smith- "Honestly I don’t know. Take it every day, day by day and figure out what I can do to help the team...
"Communication from my end is over."

"If I’m not helping the team, there’s no point in me being here."

Well, Bass would be a stretch 4, so at least on the Spurs' end, it might well be worth considering. Don't know if the Celtics want to get rid of him or at least can imagine parting ways with him, though.

As for JR Smith: No, just no, never ever.
