Pretty much what Clipper Nation says. He doesn't count.

Although, I cannot speak to the sexual orientation of the guy.

    +1 for Affirmative Action.

being Manning's QB coach is like being a sound engineer for Brian Wilson, I mean I guess you could take some credit for that but I personally wouldn't.

I feel sorry for Lions fans, this isn't an inspiring hire, but it will look good for the media.
ESPN is lambasting the move as much as they can without actually saying Caldwell is a bad coach. That would be racist.

he's pretty much the opposite of what Detroit needs. Detroit needs a disciplinarian, not a "player's coach".

was he good as a coordinator? i thought he was a pretty terrible HC for the Colts. Caldwell seems like a good guy but even with Manning he seemed to be in over his head.

Even though they won the game, I still think the job he did as OC for Baltimore against New England last year was mediocre at best. It took him until the 3rd quarter to start passing on 1st down.

No, he's a worse OC than he is an HC. The passing game was unimaginative, and the running game was atrocious. It wasn't just because of injuries, either. Both the Pats and Bengals said they knew what the offense was going to do before they did it.

Last season, Caldwell used Cameron's system and just called plays from it. Cam was a great Xs and O's guy who just fell apart on gameday and who clashed with Flacco one too many times. This season, he had a chance to bring in his system, but he kept the AC for some reason even though he had no real experience with it. His game plans sucked, and his adjustments were even worse.

these stories on Caldwell aren't good.

all I remember from him was calling a timeout in the Colts playoff game against the Jets when Colts just needed to drain the clock. Even Manning had a WTF look on his face. What's worse is he defended that decision later on.

They ran on first almost every time in the Denver game in the Super Bowl as well. People remember last year's run as the offense breaking out and carrying the team, but in reality, the offense was inept for long stretches and hung the defense out to dry except for some timely plays. As far as I recall, the Ravens only entered Denver's red zone once the entire game.

honestly it does not ing matter who the Lions hired. They could have lured Jim Harbaugh away from the niners and still ended up ing themselves over somehow. Vince Lombardi could rise from the grave and come coach the Lions to a 4-12 season. ing Fords

    Good news for us.

This could be a sleeper signing, though. But, it could also be a huge bust. No middle ground here.

And the cycle continues of bad coaches being hired. When are the Ford's going to hang it up? Seriously!

it sucks being a lions fan.
