2014 Texas Longhorns Recruiting Thread

Aggie fan posting is just fine with me too. , I cheer for Aggies, Longhorns...whoever in Texas really...'cept Tech...I just can't cheer for them for some reason. I lean more to the Horns though...always have, always will.

The perceptions of the programs are highly relevant to future recruiting. I'm personally hoping we get Kyler Murray, as I've heard several favorable comparisons to Manziel. One class isn't going to win it for us, but I think most would acknowledge A&M is doing far better than expected only a couple years ago - and for now at least, that bodes well (for us) for the future.

Yeah, I'm not getting into that "discussion." My point was just that I'm not sure why there's such a large gap in recruiting right now when one program nearly won its conference and brought in a highly reputable African-American coach while the other just finished one of its more disappointing seasons in recent memory. Then again, the new coach probably explains a lot of it — high school kids don't know Charlie Strong's resume.

In my opinion, I think it has a lot to do with strength of schedule / conference affiliation; Big 12 (8-5) <<<<<< SEC (9-4).

While Baylor is certainly light years ahead of what they were just a few years back (in terms of competing for recruits), Texas hasn't just relied on their name. They have been the dominant team in the state for over a decade. Winning trumps all.

well that's to my point. they have been so good for so long that they may have been depending on that past success as well as their facilities and tradition. but high school kids today are more concerned with what school is getting the attention at the moment. it's just a product of the times.

This thread tends to cover recruits for both schools - often (at least in the past, and I expect at times in the future), both schools will compete for the same recruits. And we don't have a TFloss. If it bothers you that much, ignore my posts. No need to be so sensitive - obviously other Texas fans think it's at least somewhat relevant.

I like seeing Aggie posts in here, especially after Aggie claims that others are "agsessed"
