He would lose a year of eligibility if he goes to UT.
I'm a bit surprised by the news of that, tbh. I still think he could win the job at Tech if he has a good spring.
24/7 just mentioned that QB Michael Brewer basically had an unofficial deal in place to transfer to Texas before Mack retired.
We'll see if those talks proceed with the new staff. He would arrive in Summer '14.

He graduates in may so I am not sure if he loses a yr or not..I guess since he is a graduate TT cannot keep him from going to other b12 schools as well
if you are a graduate you do not. showers left A&M last year but because he had graduated he was able to start this year as the QB for UTEP.
Ah , I didn't realize he's graduating.
That sucks ass.
I actually really wanted Strong before A&M got Sumlin; I'm happy with Sumlin, but I didn't want Texas to get Strong. I think he'll be a good coach for y'all; those rules should improve the team mentality and avert some future 'extra-curricular' issues.
Lol this dude will now be Webb's backup as a walk on:

Interesting that his high school coach was Dodge. I had no idea he was in marble springs.
Soooo.. I'm thinking that the OC is already on the staff. If that's already been stated my apologies for missing it but the writing seems to be on the wall. I'm thinking that they would hire a OC first so he would have some input on who his position coaches are. They've hired all the position coaches on the offensive side already. Or maybe.. he is orchestrating all of this as he works out his deal. What do you guys think?
I think it's Watson and I'm worried about Vito's health.
The consensus seems to be Watson/Wickline as co-OCs with Wickline having the majority of the say. Texas is sitting at the limit of 9 assistant coaches, but there still may be a chance Watson goes NFL. Robinson (the RBs coach) said today he's staying and won't pursue NFL opportunities.
Per 24/7, Texas offered 2015 DE Chauncey Rivers of Stone Mountain, GA this morning.
He's currently committed to South Carolina.

I've also seen somewhere that Chambers could be moved to an administrative position, which would free up a spot.
Forgot to mention the other theory is Wickline will be co-OC in le, but will simply coordinate the run game.
Watson will be the guy in the booth calling plays.
I nominate this as post of the year.......you deserve a Longhorn Network Espy for this......
Correct. I can understand wanting him as recruiting coordinator to help ease the transition, but no idea why anyone would think he should remain the TE coach.
Travonte Valentine will no longer visit Texas and is now down to LSU/Miami, per 24/7.
Apparently he's a grade risk.
I will hold off on my aneurysm until after the announcement, but so far I'm not happy with the BS about Watson. The guy has sucked more than Greg Davis at running an offense.
Alright guys, today is the big day. Today we find out that Michael Jordan was right and this was a very elaborate smokescreen. Props to Saban for pulling this off.
by the way, where the is jordan. you'd think he would stick around to gloat.
@ESPNTexas: Texas coaching staff is official. Joe Wickline will be OC/OL coach, Shawn Watson will be assistant HC/QB coach.

24/7 saying JUCO TE Blake Whiteley was finally approved to enroll today.
His paperwork took longer than usual because he is considered an international student being originally from Canada.
