    Starting in a few minutes...

SAN ANTONIO — Picture this: On the sidelines during football practice, a concerned mom tells her crying, vomiting 8- or 9-year-old son during an intense workout, “If you quit, you're not going to get stronger.”

It's an illuminating quote from the first episode of “Friday Night Tykes,” a do entary series premiering at 8 p.m. Tuesday on the Esquire Network spotlighting the hyper-compe ive world of the Texas Youth Football Association in San Antonio.

Esquire filmed TYFA because it's one of the most compe ive youth football leagues in the country, said the show's executive producer, Jason Sciavicco. It has no size or weight limit for its players. The organization has 18,000 players statewide, ages 4 to 13. Tackle football starts at age 6.

The trailer and first episode, already available on tv.esquire.com, have drawn criticism from other youth football organizations and medical professionals.

    Watched it.

The good - kids being soft, teaching them toughness, making them earn their playing time, and not everyone gets a trophy. Some kids need a kick in the ass.

The bad - teaching them to hate the other team, teaching dirty tactics, showing off, encouraging trash talking.

Kids this age should be taught to play the right way, with respect for the game and the other team. All that other stuff is nonsense right now.

I think it was crap when the Colts piled on the score instead of taking a knee with 6sec. left in the game. It was a no class move.

I see them on the Palo Alto soccer field on Sundays coming back from the ranch. Hundreds of fat parents on the sidelines and these little 3 foot midgets in full pads and uniform. Looks funny as .

i played peewee football when i was 10 until i played in junior high.

by the time you're in high school, all the love for the game has run out. you might be a better player, but you just don't have that edge any more.

Most football coaches suck donkey s. I played in Junior high until I broke my femur in practice 2/3 of the way through the season. The cleat on my left foot was touching my nose and the coach that was standing on the other side was yelling and calling me a pussy and telling me to get up. I was a little then. I spent 8 weeks in the hospital in traction, 8 weeks in a full body cast and six weeks on crutches. Fast forward to being a senior in high school and 6'5" 230 and ripped and the coaches were begging me to play and i was like "Fuuuuuck Youuuu!" I played rugby in college and loved it but JH and HS football coaches.

I would let my son play for any of them except Coach Chavarria. That fat walrus is one unlikable, dramatic SOB tbh.

Was that the coach who instructed his DT to take a deliberate penalty and hit the center prior to the snap? Grabbing kids by their facemask...If so that guy has no business coaching. He's an embarrassment. We would have had words if he would have asked my son to do something like that. Chicken move.

Some of the things they showed where not just an abomination of coaching but outright dangerous. Running a kid after repeated vomiting has no place in youth sports.

I'm a huge advocate for pee wee and youth football. We've sponsored the same team for 3 years now. I'm all about pushing kids to excel and a league predicated on winning, where not everyone is a winner but it looks like some of these guys have failed themselves in life and have taken to ruining all the great things about football just to fill a personal void. Even if you are going to prioritize winning that can't be all that its about. Its about learning how to play and learning how to compete.

Hopefully the sensationalism of this show is limited to just a few bad seeds.

Maybe it was just me but did anyone notice the irony with that one "President" touting his home field as Judson's when in fact it was in Universal City? I also laughed at the fact that he said "there would be significant staff changes" if the Judson team lost as if they are running a f'ing moneymaking NFL machine. Wonder how that would look on your resume when it states you were fired from coaching youth football because the offense wasn't good enough.

Yeah I'm dealing with a guy on the main forum who thinks posting funny pics at me is going to run me off the board. This after he hurled profanities and insults at me first. Some of these people are beyond help. Everyone's a badass from the comfort of their screen.

How are things in your world these days?

My life is great.. Bought out my business partner last summer. Got 7 figure debt but cash flow to service it pretty easily. Long term fixed interest at these rates is a no brainer. I'm giving it ten more years and cashing out before I get too old to enjoy it. Glad to hear your life is working out.

Good to hear man. That was one of the things I prioritized a few years back was a plan that gets me freed up. My personal time is worth more than squeezing an extra 10% out. Ten years is nothing, it'll sail by for you.
