Had we only made a legit play for Derrick Williams probably could have had him for peanuts. Doesn't fix anything but is a stop gap who is athletic and who could be a nice piece down the line.

Maybe this will force the front office's hand to pull the trigger on a move before the deadline. The last 2 years things have gone pretty smoothly and we haven't had the need to make a move. Even with no backup small forward they just plodded along with it assuming Leonard will be out there all year even with his tender knee and are now paying the price. They should have filled the hole at backup SF with a proven player some time ago.

Hopefully this forces SA to make a move at the trade deadline, Spurs have no true SF on the roster.
They have enough to keep beating the weak teams and now have an excuse when they lose to the good teams. "When we get our roster healthy we will be better against the good teams", they will say.

So keeping his minutes low is kind of moot. This is why I think unless your old and your body can no longer function constantly regulating low minutes to avoid injuries is kind of silly. Injuries can happen at any given time and it doesn't even have to be on the court. Honestly it seems most injuries that I have seen actually happen early in the games most of the time. When he gets back and healthy I hope Pop gets the foot out of his ass and unleashes Kawai. Get well soon KL!

This injury is a real kick in the ass; I guess the silver lining is that injuries are occurring now, and not during the second half of the season/playoffs.

Wouldn't be fair to Kawhi to give Thomas any PT.

How do you already know there won't be injuries later in the season? It's not like there's some injury quota every year and the Spurs are just using it up early. There is no silver lining here.

In fact, with something like Splitter's shoulder, it's possible that the current injury makes it *more* likely to be hurt later. He might not set hard screens after he comes back for fear of reinjury.

Remember that nice, mostly injury free season we had last year?

This is just things adjusting back to the mean.

You haven't heard about the injury quota?

From what I read on a tweet, but I know I could be wrong, was that his fracture was non-displaced. Best guess is that just splint him, but its hard to know without knowing where exactly the fracture took place on the 4th metacarpal.

Anyone who didn't see this coming is blind. The guy has long fingers and hands is always poking at the ball. Just like Manu broke his hand a couple years ago, this was bound to happen...

Out probably a month, basically the same injury as Green. Manu had a similar injury 2 seasons ago.

We've angered the basketball gods ...
Pop angered the basketball gods when he threw game 6 and then had a love fest with lebron and wade after game 7.

Good news versus 6-8 weeks. Still, the Spurs have needed a back up small forward for a while now, and this makes it all the more urgent.

That's not too bad. I was fearing more than 4 weeks. But knowing Pop he'll probably hold him out 6 just to be safe.

Looks like he'll miss 12-16 games in that span. (16 if it's a month)

He was a gracious loser. But yeah he had the definition of an epic fail in Game 6.

Jackson broke his pinkie last season. I'm not sure if its exactly the same injury but he missed 14 games or about a month.
