Offense isn't our problem. We have been scoring very well this season. It is our defense that really needs help. Having our best defender (Leonard), second best defender (Splitter), and fourth best defender (Green) on the bench didn't help today.
I have and I'm not the only one with that opinion... go take a look in the NBA forum... it's littered all over there... cost the Mavs at least 3-4 games with terrible shot selection

more important to Miami did not score 130
Oh splitter on the floor helped Miami quite a lot in the finals.
We can't rely on paper mache
I agree, more an offense without players who can create their own will not work at critical moments in the playoffs
Let's just hope that he is being hesitant and doesn't want to push it. Watching him today, he looked as if he was not going all-out. Obviously, his intensity has been his calling card throughout his career. When he begins to be an on-looker at there, he doesn't have much value.
offense is not a problem
Our go to play in the 3rd when the Heat turned the pressure on was running loop for 2 straight Tony jumpshots from 20 feet. Brick, brick.
Same story vs OKC as well.
Oh, I agree. But it wasn't his defense that was the problem in the Finals. It was his offense. More Diaw and less Splitter should help against the Heat. My point is that we are okay on the offensive end. Defense is the most worrying.
Chalmers dunked on him and blocked like two of his shots in the finals. The entire heat team had boners when he was on the floor.
Monta Ellis, really?
If he was on the Spurs, he would be receiving unprecedented levels of hate on this board.
Those were bad decisions by Tony, agreed. We went away from what works. But our defense was far more worrying in the 3rd quarter. The Heat got everything they wanted on the offensive end.
defense will always be our problem when we have one of the worst defensive pgs in the whole league. even with those guys playing, parker allows his man to blow past him cuz he's been spoiled his whole career with a prime duncan and other defenders. well duncan isn't in his 20s or early 30s anymore. he's got to man up and play some fukin defense but i'm sure he doesn't know how to.
Very true. I don't have the numbers but he used to play respectable defense through the majority of his career. Now I notice that he barely tries to get past screen nowadays and far too often loses his man.
I really don't think Baynes can be effective or consistent against a playoff teams second unit in the post season. He looks alright in garbage time or in 2nd quarters on random nights.
Yeah but the offense should still be a concern because we're relying too much on the three ball and low percentage shots. We don't have enough player who can consistently drive to the lane and recover back on the other end fast enough to play some d. We're simply lacking athleticism and it affects both ends.
unless the person really watch basketball and not just keep repeating something to look smart
****Amazing Stat****
Last 3 games for Diaw (shooting 3's)
2-2 vs. OKC
3-4 vs. ATL
3-3 vs. MIA

=8-9 3pt (88%)
respectable as in not letting his man score 30? hahaha. the only finals he didn't let a pg get off was 2007 and that was gibson and pavlovic(sp?). billups, kidd, and chalmers(in crucial games) did their normal or above normal work to him.
He would hit more if he didn't pump fake so much
True. I believe that there are concerns on both ends. But if I was looking to add a piece before the playoff push, I would rather grab up someone known for shutting down his opponent before getting someone who can put the ball in the hole. To me, our primary need is a 3/4 that can play defense and is able to spell either Leonard or Duncan/Splitter for a combined 25 minutes (at least) a night. If Ayres is still in the rotation and Leonard is our sole SF when the playoffs roll around, the Spurs FO messed up.
Spurs do seem to struggle against length+athleticism.
Parker, Mills, Beli, and Manu all were kept in check. Only Duncan and Diaw could really score.
