In a speech to the Republican National Committee, Huckabee*said*that it was wrong to give women access to no-co-pay birth control under the Affordable Care Act -- that by doing so, women were being told "they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of government." Of the thousands of types of medical care covered by insurance companies -- somehow he and a lot of other politicians have focused like a laser on birth control -- on taking coverage away from women.

Indeed, Huckabee's remarks were no "gaffe," as too many pundits have called them. This is a speech he's made before, and his remarks are a look inside the playbook of politicians who appear to have no idea how birth control works and why it's so important to millions of women as a basic, preventive health care. They ignore the fact that women use birth control for a whole host of medical reasons -- and that's their business, not Mike Huckabee's.............

The misogynist Repug War on Women and their obsession with Other People's Vaginas continues unabated, and un-rebranded, so it's the same ol' same ol' messaging.

OK, it looks like "pussies" is a Repug talking point to smear Hillary

Joe Scarborough: Lewinsky scandal means Hillary can’t fight GOP’s transvaginal probes

Conservative MSNBC host Joe Scarborough on Monday suggested that possible Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s ability to attack Republicans for anti-women laws — like proposed invasive transvaginal probe abortion laws — had been compromised because her husband had an affair in the 1990s.

Over the weekend, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) had said that former President Bill Clinton was partially responsible for the so-called “war on women” because of his affair with Monica Lewinsky. The Kentucky Republican with presidential ambitions asserted that it would be difficult for voters not to blame Hillary Clinton for Bill Clinton’s behavior.

Scarborough, who voted to impeach Bill Clinton, on Monday insisted that he would “never bring that stuff up in a gazillion years.”

“It was such an ugly chapter in our history,” he explained. “It’s just like the Iraq War in 2003. There are just some things, we fought those battles. Let’s let them go.”

“That said,” Scarborough continued. “If Hillary Clinton attacks the Republican Party’s handling of women and treatment of women and disrespect for women and suggests they’re misogynists etc., etc., etc., it does seem to be a fair question to ask right now a few years out, does the media have a responsibility to say, ‘Well, let’s see what happened when you were in the White House and how women were treated when you were in the governor’s mansion and the White House?’ Is that fair?”

“Does this not compromise Hillary Clinton’s ability to bash Republicans as being terrible towards women, misogynists, etc., etc.?”

MSNBC contributor Mark Halperin agreed that the media had a responsibility to question Hillary Clinton’s ability to protect women’s rights.

However, MSNBC host Al Sharpton predicted that the strategy would backfire because Republicans would be “saying women are responsible for the behavior of your husband.”

“I dare the Republicans to take that to her,” Sharpton said. “Because if I’m her, I would dribble, hit the backboard and score a three-pointer from way out. Because she was the wife in this. She was not one I would want to mess with.”

Repug's ignorant, stupid, hypocritically "Christian" bubba base must eat this with gusto.

Next up: very probably pit bull , Malkin, Ingraham, Coulter, all political cheap-shot provocateurs rather than serious commentators.

You guys are behind the times. This news is 4 days old.

What is wrong with hard truth? Too many people are dependent on the government. Is that so hard to understand that democrats insult the abilities of others this way? His attack was on the democrats. Not women.

I think it’s time Republicans no longer accept listening to the Democrats talk about a war on women because the fact is the Republicans don’t have a war on women. They have a war for women – for them to be empowered, to be something other than victims of their gender.

Women I know are outraged that the Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is for the government provide for them birth control medications.

Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything anyone else can do. Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women.

That’s not a war on them. That’s a war for them.

And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it. Let us take that discussion all across America because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be, and women across America need to stand up and say, ‘Enough of that nonsense.’ And I think it’s time we lead that discussion.

When was the last time you ranted about corporate tax breaks and incentives? Are hard-working CEOs and bankers insulted that the government thinks they need handouts to continue to operate their businesses?

Bankers say that if you don't give them handouts to operate their businesses the world will literally end and we'll all be playing a real life game of DayZ.

I don't rant about them, but my previous posts clearly show I am against tax breaks.

if the Feds had let all the financial ins utions that were BANKRUPT in 2008 go into actual bankruptcy, it would have been a planetary disaster, sytemic risk come true.

If the Feds had taken over, aka nationalized, with investor and client guarantees, the bankrupt ins utions, we'd be much better off now.

Why? How do you figure? Because the rich bankers would be out of a job?

How many people may have been in a position to not have to pay their house payments any longer?

If the Feds had taken over, aka nationalized, with investor and client guarantees, the bankrupt ins utions, we'd be much better off now.
No we wouldn't. Throw profit motivation out the window by guaranteeing with tax payer dollars, and the situation gets worse. No accountability.

That's a very weak retort to my posting the quote in full context.

I guess that means you are out of relevant words. I accept your defeat.

    Yes.

A few here are intelligent. However, when people like you choose to attack first over debate, in a political forum, that tells me they are not intelligent enough to have a reasoned thought.

I didn't devalue it. I added more context, in the form of a more complete quote. I didn't start the personal .
