We wouldn't have gotten past LA in the 1st round if Lebron was there.
Spurs would have 5 les.
We wouldn't have gotten past LA in the 1st round if Lebron was there.
If Lebron was there, they'd be a 3-5 seed and their injuries would still catch up to them. And Artest sucked last year. Gasol also looked done and had multiple injuries and missed 30+ games.
Nash and Blake would still have been injured, bench still sucks, Kirby and Bron are forced to play 40 minutes every game. I doubt they'd have anything left for us once we met in the semis/WCF.
We beat them easily.
I don't believe half of those injuries. With Lebron, the team has a good outlook and likely has a good record going into the break. Lebron makes LA a contender last year. Besides, they probably don't get Nash if they get Lebron because Lebron can play the point. Instead they go after a stretch 4.
Lakers currrently rank 8th in tank rankings. I think we can makeup some ground on this next roadie.![]()
they're only 3 games behind the #2 place it seems like, and their record of the past 10 games is tied best with Boston, so you have every reason to believe the Lakers will finish top 3 at least. Lakers play in the west, which's a big advantage for them over those eastern candidates imho, knowing that the top 10 only contains 3 western teams (Lakers, Jazz and Kings)
Only teams that will probably/definitely finish worse than us are: Jazz and Bucks.
Lakers are just as bad as all the other contenders for a top pick but have more injuries.
We also have an extended road trip that should further cement the fact that the season is lost.
Losses to the Wiz, pistons etc on the road should gets us a at least a top 5 pick.
Trading Pau at all-star break even if it's for a later pick to a contender would help and also be wise ...
Pau could have value to: Spurs, Brooklyn, Heat, OKC, Clips, PHX, GSW ...
Even if it's as a luxury big a la PJ brown for the Celts in 2008 or as a more useful one like Sheed for the Pistons in 2004 (not sure he can give THAT but from a post skill standpoint ...)
As DPG stated oesnt make sense for a bottom feeder but if you are gonna make the playoffs he could help with his post game and passing skills.
SI dropping truth bombs:
Things often work out for the Lakers even when it seems they don't. This could go down as the worst season in the history of the franchise, but it comes at the best time: They actually own their first-round pick, a rarity given their lust for veteran headliners, and the draft is as stocked as it's been at any point in the past decade. There may not be another LeBron James or Kevin Durant, but every general manager in the top seven can hope for a transformational player.
The Lakers, unlike some other NBA stragglers, did not try to tank. Bryant came back from the torn Achilles and broke a bone in his knee. Jordan Farmar tore one part of his left hamstring and then another. Nash tried to play through nerve damage. The tank has been forced upon them. They may finally realize, after this seven-game haul, that they can't fight it anymore. The tank is not in their heart but it is in their interest.![]()

No one is trading for Pau.
I hope LA gets 1st choice.
Kobe can then come back healthy and put the great one under his big wings and teach him so much. Just as Kobe has done with so many other up and comers. This should be a great watch. Then the Lakers sign Kobe for 3 more years.

He's such a gr8 mentor
I get misty eyed thinking about the sacrifice Kobe has put in being a great teacher.

when you became a citizen of this country, did you ever think you'd live to see the Lakers tank and be forced to rebuild? I just figured they would always reload tbh.
One step closer to Fredo drafting the next Anthony Bennett![]()
I lived through the 2005-2006 season. At one point we lost like 19 of 21 games in one stretch. Net result? Bynum. Two or three years later? Back2Back.
Yeah, ah, I can live through it. Especially this year. No expectations. All I gotta do is clown BNS s like yourself because y'all ain't winning this year either.![]()
- we'll see son.

that wasn't a tank like this, that was just Kobe getting exposed and crying for a bailout. This is a tank.
Sad....all that money and you're guys are in Knicks territory, spending a lot on mediocrity. You have my sympathies.
