That won't even be four weeks. Will be a lucky break if he returns that soon...no pun intended.

Thomas cut and Jeffers signed to ten day contract. Can sign him to a second one after that, so that's three weeks without having to guarantee him for the rest of the year.

Thomas' deal was guaranteed so sunk cost. Guess there's no market at all for dumping Nando.

How do you already know there won't be injuries later in the season? It's not like there's some injury quota every year and the Spurs are just using it up early. There is no silver lining here.

In fact, with something like Splitter's shoulder, it's possible that the current injury makes it *more* likely to be hurt later. He might not set hard screens after he comes back for fear of reinjury.
Tiago is pretty soft, I don't put it past him to get injured standing still.

It also shows that they can't just fill the gap by throwing the other short bench players they have like Nando into the rotation.

Kawhi is made of glass. He's going to miss 15+ games in two consecutive seasons. I don't think even Manu was that bad early in his career.

I'm sort of being sarcastic, but seriously, this combined with his knee issues is a bit troublesome. Pop is right to manage his minutes.

    No.
The Spurs system of managing each players minutes has a great deal to do with Tim/Manu long NBA careers. Pop been saving minutes for Tim and Manu last years and it's prolonged their careers.

Leonard's a young players, needs time on the floor to improve. Pop managed his minutes all season but, even so, Leonard's out.
    Injuries happen.

Leonard played last three minutes of first quarter and three minutes of second quarter with metacarpal fracture. Strong kid.

The went for it in the 2005 off season. Maybe they didn't like the results after chasing Finley and Van Exel to do it again since then? I really do agree with what you said though. Apart from that one season, Spurs always seem to go with modest moves after making the finals. It's always the wrong move IMO. You gotta go for upgrades.
Agree 100%. The Spurs should have repeated at least once.

For as much as Pop tries to manage minutes, to keep bodies fresh and healthy, the Spurs' players still find a way to get injured one way or another...

how about this "time management" in the 4th qtr of Spurs 5th Championship game

9:22 Tim Duncan enters the game for Tiago Splitter 79-75

7:35 Tony Parker enters the game for Gary Neal 82-79

WTF? saving Tim and Tony for WHEN and WHAT exactly?

Not sure where exactly I'm sitting as a buddy is getting tickets from his work. Based on his previous pics, I'd say Section 106 tho.

I'll be at the Clipper game also so hoping he's back for that one. I had written off the possibility.
