Thank Christ I wasn't even here then. I came runnin' at the precipice of 4-4. I didn't even know I hated Duncan then.

Duncan's 05 FMVP is possibly the worst one since cornbread's 81 FMVP tbh

    21 ppg on 47%TS LOL

    Ginobiliiiiiiiii! 19 ppg on 64%TS

Duncan was arguably outplayed by teammates Manu and Parker for 2 Finals wins while Kobe was outplayed by Shaq.

most spurs fans will argue that Manu deserved it in 05. Duncan was the leading scorer in the series, but Manu should have been the fMVP. i remember thinking this at the time and even getting mildly upset (not that i could be upset in the minutes after a chip). but similarly, we all know Pau was the true fMVP in '10. You could argue in 09, but I'll grant you that one, even though Kobe shot 43% of the field while Pau shot 60

Kobe should have 1, Duncan should have 2. if the spurs played anybody worth a in 07, duncan probably would have gotten it that year, but we had a matchup against ing boobie gibson so parker had a field day

Scoring wise its wasn't close enough for Pau though
    Kobe 29 ppg on 53%TS
    Pau 19 ppg on 56%T

And you can't argue 09 at all

Not really. Manu did nothing but score in the series. Duncan averaged 20 (on admittedly a poor FG%) and 14.1 boards in the series against the best defensive frontline of all time. Ben Wallace, the league's best rebounder, averaged only 10.6 boards.

Duncan had way more responsibility on both ends than Manu.

Couldn't care and Duncan unlike Shaq the year before anchored the defense, rebounded, blocked shots and most importantly took over in Game 7. Stopping Duncan was all Larry Brown wanted in that series.

On 2 bum ankles, he took the Spurs home. That's alpha right there. Kobe on the other hand was too busing ting his Greyson bed against the Pistons.

"nothing but score" was actually VERY valuable in a spurs-pistons series. he came up big in game 7, which weighed heavily with me. duncan struggled really bad in that series offensively. he pretty much tried to give game 5 away, but Bob wouldn't let him

Pau shot 7% better from the field (Kobe took 45 more 3s), Kobe shot 17% better from the line.

that's kobe's fault for having a ty shot selection to take 47 threes when he is historically a bad three point shooter. i'm not going to grade him on a curve because his shot selection was garbage

TS%, like eFG% has the flaw where it considers shooting 35% from three (a figure any basketball fan would know is awful) better than shooting 52% from two (which any basketball fan knows is a good number)

    Kobe's eFG% was 45, Pau's 48.
PPG difference between Kobe and Pau was 10
RPG difference was +3.6 in favor of Pau
