4) Cobie $48m contract
because it finally & utterly destroyed Mr. 81pt's image in the minds of most Laker fans (example, lakersarethebesteva). Lakers fans developed a habit of sucking his over the past years of his service as a Laker (especially years after 04 with Shaq gone) no matter if he played good or poor, or how many shots he chucked, but finally their hero made a decision sacrificing his team's interest for his own, which enabled Lakers fans to realize the true nature of this Mamba.
on the right: "Y'all some mutha in s."
You've nary room. Your Duncan is as well.
-1for having to use '11 and on as a qualifier.
Anywho, nothing trumps:

don't be salty and take your pick... which is it?
Dr Buss going under? getting cucked by Dwight?
8 tbh. It showed the beginning of the end for the Pammy (Pop & Tammy) era.

With Andrew Bynum we're up 17-16 on Boston, 6-4 on Duncan, and 6-2 on James.
-5points for dodging... come on Ramon, take your pick...
I didn't understand your line of questioning, tbh.![]()
LkrFan making everyone use Google Translate since his dumbass didn't learn English phonetics properly, too busy stuffing his mouth full of drug filled condoms instead. smdh.
Bullet to my head: cucked by D12. Once that athleticism goes, so will his game. I'm thinking 3 more year, tops.
really? do you think Fredo can turn it around?
You also think the grape sour, don't you? But I do have to agree with you on this one, DH is so grossly overrated it is actually a good riddance for the lakers, which'll turn out to be a blessing in disguise. We were also after that DH 's ass for quite some while, but the difference is, we never begged him to stay and managed to avoid being made a laughing stock![]()
I do. Honestly.
He's been running the Lakers for years. Most fans ignore that fact. Jerry has been sick for a long time. The only time he stepped in was when a major decision had to be made. Otherwise, it's been Fredo. Fredo signed off on The Gift! that led to 5 > 4. Jerry hasn't been running the Lakers for a while now.
Now Fredo has made a few blunders that are well do ented. However, he's had some success as the man too including helping us close to within 1 rang of catching them Boston Bums.
Case in point, LA is still an attractive location for FAs. There are factors that go into whether they sign with us or not:
- Does the Lakers have cap space?
- What direction is LA going in terms of their roster?
- How close are they to contending?
- Can (FA) get more minutes (and exposure which equates to more $$$) in LA, than with their current team?
There are others that I won't mention, but you get the idea. Let's take our current situation:
- Kobe's albratross contract limits our cap space going forward
- The only players under contract next year are Kobe, Nash, Sacre, and Marshall (other than Kobe, all are movable for the right deal)
- We get a #1 draft pick (I'm hoping for a complete tank job and land in the lottery to get a future all star, being paid on a rookie contract): Embiid
Whether we get back into contention or not will depend on Kobe's health. I'd like to see us draft Embiid (if he comes out) and re-sign Pau for a cheaper salary. Sign Lance Stephenson - because the Pacers cannot afford to pay any more than $7M for him (lux tax). Then fill in the blanks.
Outlook:
Nash / Marshall (who can be further developed backing up Nash and be part of our future nucleus)
Kobe / Meeks
Lance / Johnson
J Hill / Cheap FA
MVPau / Embiid / Sacre
^ That team is 2nd round fodder at best. However, I like the potential going forward. Then Kobe's $24M contract expires (again). I'd trust that we would sign other FAs to replace what we pay him to put together a few more pieces for us to make a run at KD in 2016.
If you look at how the Lakers do business, they always ensure that contracts expire around the same time a superstar's contract also expires. Look at The Shaquisition! - it was no coincidence that we just so happened to have enough cap room to sign the biggest FA in NBA history. Later on, they were after Yao and LeBron - fell through. They were prolly after PG too - but he resigned with Indiana. They're probably betting that KD won't be happy in OKC - just like KG grew unhappy in Minny (should have been a Laker, but we got Lurched).
So I've said all this to say that the Lakers will be alright. I like the fact that they love to swing for the fences (like how we should have had D12 and CP3, but...SMH) . Sure they'll strike out from time to time, but when they connect...![]()
^ Now back to reality:
Fredo drafts the next Anthony Bennett
Kirby's Contract! prevents any top free agents from going to the Lakers
MVPau bolts instead of signing your dream insultingly cheap contract
LeBron becomes LeClip!
Lakers continue to suck ass
solid post, Francisco. I just don't recognize this franchise tanking and building through the draft. IMO, Dr Buss would've done everything different. He would've flipped Nash already, and gotten Phil back. He probably would've managed a S&T for Dwight instead of leaving empty handed. I'm not even sure he signs off on that Kobe extension, tbh...
- yeah The Contract! is a doozy. No way to
det
ne
That new CBA will make the Lakers build through the draft and develop players - at least somewhat. No use on paying $128M () for a team that isn't going to contend. They have proven that the cap doesn't mean too much to them either. If the right player becomes available, they'll pay the lux tax with the quickness. For now, I'll hope that they land a nice lotto pick on the cheap, and continue to build, making them attractive to a major FA to take the torch from Kobe going forward.
Come on, Luis. Kirby ain't passing . Whoever FA it is will have to pry the "torch" from his dead cold hands... this is the Coward 2.0 story. tbh, I think Fredo is more interested in the $$$ than winning (and I think that's the huge difference with Dr Buss)... could totally see him throwing the house at Melo in the offseason, just to get enough "buzz" to sell more tickets...
Though without Jim Buss we're short two NBA World les.
Fredo has won nothing without Jerry and Ronnie holding his handsPERIOD
Though without Jim Buss we're light two NBA World les.
