Knicks will be the Knicks and not trade him while he walks for nothing. Where do you think he'd sign? I would say the Bulls.

He'll want to go to a contender for sure. But there is a slight chance that he sticks out with the next for the next several years

Definitely don't want that fat brick-chucker Melo on the Clippers, tbh....

They would be smart to trade him and at least get some picks back since they don't have any this year.

He stays in New York and takes the money. He had no problems blowing up the Knicks so he could keep his max from the Nuggets. He'll keep the money again this time.

This. Plus as a condition of signing, the Lakers would also have to bring over friend killer with him.

Side benefit of the Kobe extension we cant waste money on non-superstars.

They shouldn't, but technically yes they can. Especially if Nash is forced into medical retirement.

People are saying his contract will mean Melo etc won't join ... good.
Melo is a very good scorer but if we cant get Durant or a "young" all-star I'd rather Lakers hold on to Cap space until Kobe comes off the books.

And this is why he's getting his max money with the Knicks.

How does it mean that? Lakers would still have room to sign him.

He's not signing with the Lakers because they're not going to offer him max $$$. They learned the hard way with Nash and Kobe. They're going for Love and/or Westbrook.

You actually trust Fredo to make a smart decision?

But nothing else. and they wont be a legit contender. If he wants to play with a non contender in big market why not milk Knicks for an extra year?
Unless we win lotto then maybe Lakers convince him to come over, but I doubt he would leave NYC even if we beg.

That makes absolutely no sense. Why would the Lakers sign Kobe for near max if they weren't prepared to make a big offer this summer?

I agree, I'm just saying it's possible to do it based on numbers.

Without Jim Buss we're light two NBA World les. If Pop wasn't such a stick-in-the-mud you'd be at Duncan: 5 - the tired old bag Kobe: 5. Don't you dare cast Jim Buss down.

Ever since Howard arrived in Houston you've suddenly become a half way intelligent poster. Before that you were an insufferable, trolling asshole.

    Congratulations.

But they may not have the wherewithal, self esteem, & lastly the fatherly influence to resist, Killa. And besides we've already got 5 & 16 so it's not like we're des ute like the fatherly influence believed himself to be. Christ, I'm old & sodded enough to sign on,,,like Pop was old & sodded enough to around by making Duncan play musical chairs last June.

Like when Bud Grant came back to the Vikings way back then...he just said " it" and started going for it on every 4th down regardless.
