He pretty much spelled it out when he said its not a rivalry which means he feels the spurs are no threat towards him.
How is it a rivalry when they own our asses?
Exactly it is not.
It could have been a good rivalry back in the 00's if they were up and coming then, but now they are just better and the Spurs older.
tbh I have to give the Thunder a lot of credit. I thought they would fall apart without their alpha like they did in the playoffs. Instead KD has finally taken over and gone to a completely different level. I'm hoping Russ coming back s up their chemistry because if it doesn't, they will be a lock for at least the Finals.
Clearly he wants to play for us y'all /blue
We've only played 1 playoff series against the Thunder. No way that is a rivalry, yet.
Let's wait until Durant wins something other than a lockout shortened conference le before we propel his team over the Spurs.
Okc are the favorites right now spurs really need that hca vs the thunder
Only met them once, not a rivalry. Much like he doesn't have a rivalry with Lebron, only met once. The media will try to create a rivalry but there has to be more of a history for there to be rivalry. For example: Grizzlies/Clippers could be considered a rivalry especially if they meet again this year.
Heat/Pacers and Heat/Bulls are the only two rivalries in the league at the moment. More the former.
when their scrubs like Jackson, Lamb, and 45 year old fisher own your ass, it's not a rivalry
Never understood this bowing down to someone who has not accomplished anything compared to Tim Duncan. Durant is having a great regular season. If he wins the championship three or four times, let's talk about him "owning" Tim Duncan and the Spurs.
I don't think anyone would ever say he is close to Tims legacy yet man. Do they own the older Spurs now? Maybe they do, but they would not fair well against the PRIME SPURS IMO of the 00's. Different day and age now, the older Spurs they might do well against.
I would agree on every point. We don't and won't have an easy time with them. Durant has flipped the switch and will take his team far, no doubt. I just think with a healthy roster and Tim Duncan on our team...it ain't over yet.
I hope it is not over yet, but who knows being it will have to end one day? This can't go on forever, hopefully it is not over yet.
Can only hope that Westbrook kills chemistry
I feel the same. I also try to remind myself that playing the frethrOklahoma Thunderefs without Tiago, Kawhi, Manu, and Green is not a great example of what to expect in the playoffs. I think when healthy, we have a shot.
This kid raises Kawhi's value to the Spurs team exponentially. Leonard is arguably the biggest key to a Thunder series.
Kevin Durant is having a great run right now but it won't continue in the playoffs. The Thunder and Durant are going to go flat in the playoffs and will come up short. The playoffs are a whole different game. You need to have an inside game and the Thunder don't have it. That's how the Grizzlies took 4 straight from them. They remind me of the Phoenix Suns teams of the early 2000's. Those teams were stacked with talent but never had what it took to get by us.
Don't get me wrong, they have a mental edge on the Spurs right now but I expect that to change. A focused and healthy Spurs team has what it takes to beat them and I hope they get the opportunity to do it.
