NOT EXACTLY high on Boozer or Mike Dunleavy, but Taj Gibson though... I wish the Spurs would aim for Joakim Noah if it was true. But pure speculation.

The strength of the Spurs asides from playing great bball last season was that they stayed healthy and other teams collapsed with injuries. They have to hope for more of the same which isnt far fetched considering Pop doesnt drain his players. Also it would help if Indiana knocks the Heat off for them
well, it's either give up Leonard, but because of salary issues, Spurs can dump the 3rd stringers to them (Cojo, Colo, maybe Bonner). Otherwise, Spurs might be able to trade Diaw or Tiago. However, trading Tiago (a true center) for Taj Gibson would mean 2 PF's playing on the floor which is kind of questionable. It's pretty far fetched considering how this season has gone already:
-Ginobili out with hamstring injury
-Tony Parker out at random times with shin injury
-Danny Green with broken hand
-Kawhi Leonard with broken hand
-Tiago Splitter with dislocated shoulder
and to a lesser extent:
-Nando de Colo with broken nose
-Bonner with not one, but two broken nose injuries...
Im not gonna lie, the probability of the Spurs making it back to the finals is low. But stranger things have happened. Last season was their moment. Its ok, it could be worst, you could be a Laker fan
kawhi ain't going nowhere, green and tiago are doubtful to say the least too. with everybody else they can do all they want for all i care, the three players are decent to good and could actually make us better.
Boozer HAS to be BS. His game has fallen off a lot, and Thibs plays him VERY little in the 4th because of his ty defense. He's actually played fewer 4th Q minutes than guys who are out for the season or now gone, like Deng.
Well given Thibs' way of "managing" minutes, it's not surprising at all that he would run his 1st and second best big into the ground... Boozer not playing 4th quarter minutes doesn't mean much.
And he's still lightyears ahead of Splitter when it comes to scoring... I'd be all for it and talked about him before. We don't have low post threat off the bench, that's a serious flaw that makes it harder to win vs OKC.
Boozer from 5 years ago? Sure. I'm not sure that Diaw isn't a better paint/post scorer than Booz at this point, though, and he does a lot of other stuff as well.
We're not short of players who put the ball in the hole. , Bonner's TS% is .592 and Diaw's is .616. Boozer's is .490, so he's really not even all that on offense. What we really need is a 3/4 who can defend like a beast.
Definite BS on Boozer. Chicago ain't giving up Gibson. He's actually been more consistent than Boozer
The Spurs would have to give up either Parker or Duncan just to make the #'s work in a Boozer deal and we all know that won't happen.
i could easily argue that boozer is a far better defender now than he was 5 years ago tbh.

tbh in the past he was one of the worst post defenders in the league, a david lee or close to it. Now he is a legit big.

I'm completely welcome to getting Gibson/Dunleavy (for the right price, obviously). Gibson would be a MASSIVE upgrade over Ayres, and Dunleavy would give us a legitimate backup SF who is a great shooter. However, I'm not entirely sure what Chicago would be asking for in return.
This rumor is 10 days old coming from an unknown source...
Regardless of this "rumor":
- Dunleavy is one of the most likely/realistic target for Spurs at the trade deadline.
- Gibson is too costly in assets for Spurs to get.
- Boozer makes absolutely no sense given his contract.
Exactly what trade assets do we have that we are willing to let go of?
Not sure why we would any of these guys TBH. Gibson for some reason has been HIGHLY overrated, HIGHLY!!! He is almost 29 and averages like 13 ppg and 6 rebounds. He isn't really going to get a ton better like the media claims. Boozer is old and never played Defense. Dunleavy is old and never played Defense either. I guess if we are going to get one of them I would take Dunleavy if we can get him cheap, he could give Leonard some rest and be a reliable scorer of the bench, and he has size. Other than that, no. I wouldn't trade Leonard for any of these guys.
DeColo, Diaw, an Bonner all have expiring deals. To a team looking to shed salary that is the ticket.

Well, I wasn't really buying the trade rumor to begin with. However, there are a couple pieces I can see the Spurs giving up for someone like Taj Gibson: you know the Spurs are unwilling to trade Duncan, Ginobili or Parker and that's a given. But seeing that Bulls are in a semi-rebuilding phase, I can see them going after Splitter, Diaw, Belinelli, or even Danny Green. I wouldn't mind giving up Splitter and Green for Taj Gibson personally, but the only problem is if we get Taj Gibson, that means there's no strict center we can play; all the Spurs bigs will be retroactively playing the 5.
Sorry but the Spurs aren't trading Splitter, Diaw, Belinelli, or even Danny Green unless it's for a marquee player and none of them are coming our way outside of the post duncan draft.
In other words, Pop will never degrade the chemistry of the team unless it's a sure fire homerun trade and no one is handing one to the Spurs this season.
This "rumor" is 2 weeks old and was already posted/discussed in the Trade Rumors thread. Not happening.
DeColo maybe, but Diaw and Bonner are here to stay. And with one or two of those, we're not getting a 15M player.
