They do, but they're surprisingly compe ive. Also, I'm in the MLIS program at LSU, so my school's library is in Baton Rouge but I'm still living in New Orleans. Trying to avoid that much of a commute. Hoping to get a non-student position at Tulane's library, though.
Good luck. I'm still waiting for a librarian position to open up anywhere here in SA. Due to certain cir stances I'm not in a position to move around the country so I'm under employed at the moment. I guess it could be worse though. I could be working retail in New Orleans.
I like the New Orleans part. Working retail sucks no matter where you are, though. There are luckily quite a few library jobs that open up here, so I feel hopeful. Especially if I can put together a fall course load that's all online so I don't have to schedule around driving to Baton Rouge one or two days per week.
