Ace mentioned a the Spurs might try to facilitate an Afflalo deal for a wing. Harkless the is the combination of being something the Spurs want and not being integral to his team. Mo is the fourth wing at best this season. I think the Spurs would win a trade of Harkless for a pick, but it wouldn't be a travesty.

In regards to the Affalo rumors, it just makes no sense for Spurs unless Green or Beli are involved.
Not enough minutes at the wing for 4 starting/6th man caliber shooting guards and Leonard-- especially in a shortened playoff rotation.
If Leonard can/will be playing PF in small ball lineups it makes plenty of sense to me. The only real issue is Spurs have very little assets they are willing to part with.
I am shocked, for a team that supposedly is so open to trades, that Denver has not been mentioned in anything.
I wouldn't give up a pick for Harkless. He's an unproven commodity when it comes to the playoffs. Sure he would provide depth at the SF, but would he really see minutes over Manu, Beli, and Green in the playoffs? No he would not-- he would most likely fill the T-Mac role from last year. Not worth giving up a 1st in next year's deep draft. Would rather keep the 1st and have a nice prospect from the BEGINNING of his cheap rookie deal.
Andrew Nicholson?
Only way I think it's necessary for Spurs to give up a 1st is if the player is an absolute filler into the 8-9 man playoff rotation (Ilyasova, Young, Affalo).
Harkless has two years left after this one and is a better prospect than the team can realistically hope to draft. In that regard, it'd be an awesome investment. Also, it's not likely a late first is going to make or break the Spurs' ability to trade for Ersan. Young and Afflalo aren't going to happen. They just aren't.
Of course just a late first won't be enough.
As you know, for a rebuilding team on the way to the lottery (Bucks, Sixers, Magic all qualify), the smart GM's usually have the desire to part with their most expensive non-building blocks (players who are good/ but not good enough to build around).
What they look for in exchange are expiring(s)(most important), a prospect and pick(s).
How many picks is dependent on how great the player is and I don't think either Ersan, Young or Affalo warrant more than 1 pick. On contenders, these 3 players are just good, yet overpaid, role players. Don't inflate their value just by admiring their stats on their crap teams. Good players, but overpaid.
In regards to Harkless, I disagree. Spurs tend to draft really well and their draft picks' salary next year will be about half of Harkless' salary-- which is relevant considering how diligent and disciplined Spurs are about their cap. Not to mention, Spurs have a lot invested in Bertans and Livio-Jean Charles-- one of them has a great chance to be brought over next year. And both play the same position as Harkless.
