Drafted higher, closer to his prime age, without the knee injury. More athletic, and taller and a better shooter.

If we're so hyped on David Bertans, why not be about Austin Daye?

Daye has actually played in the NBA and was with the raptors sucking hard. bertans hasn't even sniffed the NBA but is probably better.

From what I know, I would say Bertans is more athletic. (But that could change due to his injury)
Also, he has more potential Daye IMO. But then again, Daye's ceiling is arguably about 5 feet high.

The thing about Bertans is he's much more passionate about the game. If you watch any of his highlights, You could see how much more effort he puts into it.

They're both two of the skinniest players I've ever seen, they need to put on some weight. Luckily it's easy to do so in SA.

As long as he doesn't go to Diaw or Blair's old food spots. Spurs need to feed him whatever they're giving Baynes.

He's better than Marvin "Chocolate" Jackson, from the Fresno Rapids... not sure that means much, but there.

Is this guy really the savior? Or another case of an overrated player?

    Well
since I haven't seen either play much- this is more speculation than anything-
From what I have read and seen on highlights Bertans has a fair amount of upside. I look at the Daye acquistion as a 10 day contract and the Spurs doing DeColo a favor. DeColo was not going to get any minutes down the stretch and this year seems to have worked hard and not complained. Daye is at best intriguing and worth a look. Sort of like those 10 day contracts. Do DeColo a favor and get a guy who may, but probably will not, do well in a better system...

    Bruno truth bomb.
Daye is only a career .349 3P shooter.
Bertans scores 9 points for every 3P attempt.
