The Nets have worked out center Jason Collins this week and are considering signing him to a 10-day contract, according to a report on ESPN New York.
Collins, a former Net who played on the team's back-to-back NBA finalist teams in 2002 and 2003, revealed last April that he is gay in an article in Sports Illustrated. A journeyman free agent, he was not signed by an NBA team in the summer.

I read an ESPN article that called Collins a "high-character big man". The only thing I know about his character is that he left his fiancée at the alter and only told her why after he had given an interview to SI. Dude seems like a selfish heel, gay or not.

Collins is a spare and if he didn't like , not that many people would give a about him. Sad but true. If gay people want to be respected in pro sports then why not have a gay athlete that is at least average in the sport they play? Collins is not even an average spare. He is a spare's spare.

they were willing to spend $17m (on lux tax alone) on Jordan Hill... I don't think money will be a problem...

dude would still be an upgrade over Baynes/Ayres imho, Spurs should consider signing that guy, even if not for flattering Duncan.

I'll never get how this guy lasted over a decade in the league despite being below average on both sides of the ball and being a terrible rebounder.

He was a big body to throw against the likes of Shaq, Timmy, & later on Dwight Howard (he did quite well against Dwight with the Hawks ). The Collins types are useless in this league.

Satan already has a plenitude of suckers (D-Whistle, Harlem , etc...). And according to your logic Tim Duncan should've also joined the Great Satan, which is hilarious. If any current spur is to join Miami it has to be Manu before anyone, Argentinian dude was the Heat's MVP of the 13' finals imho. Dude should've been rewarded with a contract from Heat (rather than Spurs) for his excellent work done in the 13' finals tbh.

    yep.

"Today, Jason Collins tore open the last remaining closet in America, and became the first openly gay player to be signed by a team in one of the big four sports. We are especially excited that Jason will be playing in Brooklyn, just like Jackie Robinson, and in a marriage equality state. This is a piece of history, an important point on the continuum toward justice and a moment to celebrate," Brian Ellner, a member of the Athlete Ally board of directors said in a statement.

Will the refs have to stop the game if Gayson tries to have sex with the other players on the court?

    Does Gayson's sweat contain AIDS?

Will the Nets get rid of their cheerleaders and hire a bunch of s from chippendales?
