Stopped in at the 7-11 at 5:40 this morning for coffee and there was a mid 30's black guy at the counter in a heated argument with one of the clerks. He apparently lived in one of the apartments in the neighborhood and was trying to buy something. The clerk was politely telling him to leave as he was banned from the store for shoplifting. He was telling her that she HAD to serve him as he had a right to eat and buy food. She just kept telling him politely to leave that he wasn't allowed in their store anymore. She even suggested that he go down to the Valero or Sprouts (both within walking distance) to get his food. Without any shame at all he said he was banned at both of those stores too and "Y'all are all violatin my rights!" I paid the other clerk for my coffee and left and he was still going at it berating the clerk and it looked like he had no intention of leaving anytime soon. I just don't get it. He genuinely thought THEY were in the wrong and not him.

http://www.reuters.com/investigates/...#article/part2Because of its persistent inability to tally its accounts, the Pentagon is the only federal agency that has not complied with a law that requires annual audits of all government departments. That means that the $8.5 trillion in taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996, the first year it was supposed to be audited, has never been accounted for. That sum exceeds the value of China’s economic output last year.
what are the results of some guy misunderstanding what his rights are?The consequences aren’t only financial; bad bookkeeping can affect the nation’s defense. In one example of many, the Army lost track of $5.8 billion of supplies between 2003 and 2011 as it shuffled equipment between reserve and regular units. Affected units “may experience equipment shortages that could hinder their ability to train soldiers and respond to emergencies,” the Pentagon inspector general said in a September 2012 report.
annoyed shopkeepers and a bemused CC. important stuff.

- The Pentagon uses a standard operating procedure to enter false numbers, or “plugs,” to cover lost or missing information in their accounting in order to submit a balanced budget to the Treasury. In 2012, the Pentagon reported $9.22 billion in these reconciling amounts. That was up from $7.41 billion the year before.
- The accounting dysfunction leads the DOD to buy too much stuff. One example: the “vehicular control arm” to supply Humvees. In 2008, the DOD had 15,000 parts -- a 14-year supply (anything more than three years is considered excess supply). Yet from 2010 to 2012, it bought 7,437 more of these parts and at higher prices than they paid for the ones they already had.
Why didn't you just shoot him? I mean, he WAS black, right?
I have seen white people do very similar things.
But I understand it is much a much more relevant story for many if the trash is black.
Black was simply an adjective. I would have use white or hispanic in the same context. I am perfectly aware that s comes in all colors.
Y'all sure are sensitive little es.
Yes, people are too sensitive. Still, you could have left out the color of his skin until asked.
CC's pearl clutching doesn't fool me. He's been around long enough to know the likely reaction.
So? Does it make it right for people to jump on it? people generally describe a person in one manner or another, weather it is blond hair, brown eyes, tanned skin, white, black, etc. It may have been intentional it might not of.
You however... are always guilty of jumping to conclusions.
Ever take time to reflect on your actions and manners?
Are the 7-11s all run by clerks from India over there too?
it's hardly jumping to a conclusion that CC race-baits then plays coy about it.
The ones at mine are mostly hispanic.
Of course it's intentional. If it had been a white guy I would have said white guy. But saying he was black pushes certain posters buttons who automatically read way more in to it than I actually say.
I'm mostly annoyed by people buying their damn scratch off tickets.
Same here. Especially when you are waiting in line for them do buy various $1 tickets, and they aren't buying anything else.
At least I seldom shop at them, but you have the same thing at gas stations. At least there I live.
Funny story, not as funny as all the white guilt on display in this thread though.
lottery, the "stupidity tax"
Is there anything you don't hate?
ugh, the usual suspects in this thread are cross-bearing that white guilt like good little shills. "I've seen white people act like that too."
Well, pgardn, I can safely say I've never seen/heard a white guy banned from 7-11, Valero, etc...but I'm sure if you google hard enough you'll find a rare exception. That being said, white/black/yellow whatever, if you're a shoplifting bag then you get what you deserve--and don't for one second try to sell us the angle that he was stealing food for his family in those previous visits. We all know it was more than likely some OE and maybe a couple Dutchmasters
I know of a white bum banned from the Valero right outside of my neighborhood. I guess I should go get the scoop and post about the enthralling tidbits. Probably a great story everyone can learn from.
Sure ya do...get right on that so we can read all the juicy deets.
If CC would've omitted the "black" description, would you honestly have thought the perp wasn't black anyways? I mean, come on now...
We got white bums all over. I saw a cop remove one but he is back by the WhataBurger. I can get his story as well.
Riveting stuff...
I have only noticed one black bum. He screams at cars while sitting on his bike. Now if I go to the East side I can get your black bum stories for you.
