Dude, look......the only magazine/info you use is the one where get this right is their business...ok? Simply common sense. Track & Field News is in the business of track & field, not every sport like SI, all the mag does is the sport of track & field. Now tell me slick which do you think is going to be legit?

Billy Johnson never ran a 9.5, he is on no list anywhere of doing so. You can't show me when or where it happened because, it didn't.
So the NCAA and Sports Illustrated are wrong and you're right? You really are an old got who refuses to admit when you're wrong....

What purpose would the NCAA and SI have for making up a track time for a then-unknown athlete from a tiny college like Widener?

    I'll try again...

I have the lists for every year since 1970, they go to 9.6. Billy Johnson isn't there. I keep up on this stuff guy, you really haven't noticed that?

Show me where and when he ran that time, you can't do it because it never happened. There is a chance he did run a windy 9.5 windy times aren't listed because they don't count.

Dude....HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... track/footballer freak here, if any footballer runs a 9.5 I know about it.

Let me put it to ya like this then.

The magazine that is the best source for anything having to with track never listed a 9.5 for Billy Johnson. I look into fast footballers, I keep up on it like in....Jim Thorpe back in the teens....and I;ve never seen a 9.5 for Billy Johnson.

Could it have slipped by myself and a magazine that keeps up on that info......highly unlikely.

Look into Billy Johnson at the DIVIII Championship meet, he's nowhere to be found. Look for 9.5 Billy Johnson on anything having to do with the NCAA.....NOPE!

Where is this time. what meet, what month?

Didn't you just tell me.....magazines make mistakes?

Dude you really aren't getting this at all, why am I not surprised?

I don't have any almanacs, ok? I have the last word on the sport ...TRACK & FIELD NEWS MAGAZINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have any clue at all what I;'m talking about there? Did you open the link to their web page...of course not. Everyone...EVERYONE...into track swears by that magazine.

THEY NEVER LISTED A 9.5 FOR BILLY JOHNSON BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Ok,ok, tell ya what I;m going to do, I know the editor of the magazine he is a friend of mine, will you go with what he says about this?

See the cat on the cover, he would smoke Billy Johnson and he's a decathlete.

Totally missed the point as usual.

Let's say Johnson did run that 9,5.

    Oilers

    Andy Hopkins 9.2
    Tony Jones 10.2
    Herkie Walls 10.3
    Charlie Frazier 9.4
    Billy Cannon 9.5
    Bill Groman 9.5
    Billy Johnson 9.5

How many times have I heard...."you Googled"....that, it's all on Google. Ok then why is finding this 9,5 so difficult?

    While in Texas.

Obviously Bob Hayes was the fastest Cowboy, how about the Texans? How about the old Dallas Texans?

Neither of them were known for collegiate track success.
What about Drew Hill then? Givins was fast I know but Hill had to be fast at only 5'9 to thrive in the league as long as he did.

This is last seasons DivIII Championships 100m final

    Finals
    1 Thurgood Dennis SO Wis.-Eau Claire 10.77
2 Sean Bernstein SR Oneonta 10.77
3 Bruce Gray SO Greenville 10.94
4 Aaron Pannell JR inson 10.99
5 Thierry Diessongo SO CCNY 11.01
    6 Alex Koenen SO Wis.-La Crosse 11.02
7 Ackeme Brown SR Ramapo 11.15
8 Jonathan Padron JR Occidental 11.16
9 Gavin Colley SO Widener 11.21

11's...hhahaha!!!!!!!!!! You can imagine how lame this was back in the day.

There's a Widener sprinter, look at those sluggish times, this is why Johnson starred. Most state HS meets produce better times.

Walter Dix is one of the top 10 fastest sprinters in the world. He ran for FSU. He has anchored the USA Olympic 4x1 team, he is not footballer.

The 4.3 guys could run with the great 100m sprinters up to around the 50, then the superior...speed endurance ...that real sprinters who train at distances like 300/400 would kick in. The great Usain Bolt wouldn't seperate himself at 40, but after 50.......gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

You won't believe your eyes, this kid would have played football at FSU but he's simply too damn fast for football, so he runs on the pro track circuit and just won our Nationals in the 60. If I had to guess a combine 40 time for him right now, hmmm....4.20.

As far as legit NCAA sprinters who "also" played football currently in the NFL.

    Trindon Holliday
    Jeff Demps
    Jacoby Ford
    Teddy Williams
    Jamaal Charles

Williams could have done far more as a trackster, he had that 200 ability also, something none of the others mentioned had. They were more 60/100 except for Charles who was also a hurdler.

Never have figured out why so many here like to stay limited?????

Defensive players chase and at the same time have to avoid being blocked. Some chase more and avoid blocks less. DL the other way around. Some are very good at instinctively positioning themselves so they do both very well.

Offensive players, it's a bit more specialized. Guys like Rice could "see" opponent's balance and change directions at precise imbalance moments so they are very hard to catch or cover. There are some relatively slow players that are very hard to catch or cover. Acceleration, which encompasses, starting, stopping, and changing direction is huge. But this can be offset by the ability to read an opponents body language; To feel an off balanced opponent, whether engaged, or in an open field situation.

Track... BS for football. Sure it helps to be fast. But chasing and avoiding being caught are fundamental. The film tells so much more.

Coaches take note, Clowney was absolutely gassed in a number of games this season. Figure out why.
