Wha?
Basically. I'm just curious if it is possible for Duncan to opt out of his contract for next year and sign at the minimum so the front office can give the max (or close to the max) to another player. Lets say Monroe. He has taken a pay cut before for a ring and with a lineup of:
Parker
Green
Leonard
Monroe
Splitter
with the bench being:
Mills/Joseph
Manu
Belinlli
Diaw
Duncan
The Spurs would be unstoppable. Maybe not plausible but is it possible.
Good question.
I think ironically its not the owners but rather the Players Association does not allow it.
Nope... He would be the laughingstock of the league if he did that... You have to have some pride...
Championships> pride especially for a proven winner like timmy
Timmy has given up way too much money in his career already.
How could you say someone isn't full of pride if they took a pay cut to win championships. That's literally team pride. And he literally did that before. How is that a laughing stock? Players saying they want to win and really they are full of it(Kobe).
And championships=Pride
Huh? He's been generous compared to most stars maybe but he's one of the highest paid players ever in the league.
Don't hold your breath on det one
Highly doubtful. His legacy is already cemented as a top 10 great with his 4 les and nearly 5th to go along with all of his MVPs, all star selections and All NBA team placements.
Just staying at Wake his senior year cost him a fortune.
ing great idea
You should email RC to share it with him.
Replace Duncan with Manu and we can talk
It was just a thought. But I guess I'll say it again. Possible but not plausible. And since its not possible then the thought is gone. Sorry I thought he would take another pay cut to win a ring again.
Sounds fair, could follow in Timmy's footsteps of taking a pay cut.
if Duncan took the minimum, I'd hope they could acquire somebody a lot better than Greg ing Monroe..
we have to resign Bonner first
lol Duncan on the bench...Tim @ 50 would probably still be better than Splitter and Monroe.
No....just no. No one will ask him, and he shouldn't even consider it, even if someone did.
Just win the championship and he would retire and you can have all his salary.
Dont forget about extending Ayres or else Portland might take him back.
Yeah that is true, but no HOF player is going to take the vet minimum no matter how much they want to win! Tim has already taken paycuts most would not take, he is not going to opt out to get this or that amount a year when it is guaranteed! I can't name one superstar ever to take the mininum and especially on their last contract. The player to do that doesn't exist (D ROB didn't even take the minimum on his last and some ed about him not taking far less).
