So, Granger has picked the Clippers, Spurs aren't interested in Artest and Butler seems unlikely. It looks like Spurs will come up empty on the bought out players front.
Regarding the 15th roster spot, there will be a point when Spurs will decide that the available vets aren't better than who they have at the end of the bench (Joseph, Daye and Baynes). In that case, it will make sense to go with a project for that last spot with next year in mind.

Caron Butler has agreed to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a league source tells Yahoo Sports.
butler blows. hopefully he gets extended minutes when we play them.
rofl
That's good for the Spurs.
3p% in the playoffs:
2012: 25.8%
2013: 25.0%
PERs of 6.2 and 10.2 and negative WS/48 both seasons.
He's a good midrange shooter, not three point shooter. It will hurt. He's going to the team where his role can really hurt us.
Well, time for Carlon Butler to be a new Spurs killer.
To say the Spurs are the so called "Model" team, no one ever really wanna sign here. They know Pop aint gonna let'em play. I guess Stephen Jackson wasn't lying. If your outside the big 3, aint promised.
I would have taken Granger or World Peace just to have some extra options but why people are freaking out about this is beyond me. Barring major injuries our playoff rotation is set and I'm not why anyone would want any of these buyout candidates to eat into the minutes of the guys we already have. Granger would have been nice for some spot minutes off the bench but if he's looking for extended minutes the Spurs should have said thanks but no thanks.
We often hear free agents don't come here to San Antonio as it is a small city team without a lot of night life. If that is the case, Oklahoma City should never get a sniff from anyone........
I didn't want Butler but this kind of suprises me.
And Jeff Ayres. Asshole was a 3rd string wiener on the Pacers and couldn't sniff the floor and now he's up after diaw cir venting pops golden child Bonner
It just says that Miami didn't want him.
Once again, the front office completely fails the team. It seems the game six loss has had more of an affect on their ability to make decisions than it has on any particular player. Of all the people in the Spurs organization who should be looking for a job, it is Buford. He has failed this team miserably.
The Spurs just wanna get these steal deals an think that gonna keep working. Sometimes they need to go for the home run swing an quit tryna get these bs steals.
How did he fail the team? By not signing Caron Butler? lol
Buford would have another GM job five minutes after you fired him![]()
Well, I can't speak for him specifically, but I always said watch the III phases and then judge (Free Agency, Trade Deadline & Buyouts). Free agency raised a lot of questions, but I was willing to wait and see Phase II and III. When the trade deadline passed and nothing was done to address self-admitted glaring holes, it didn't bode well, but at least there was phase III to fill in that gap. With phase III coming to a close and the Spurs whiffing on their main targets per reports, it's safe to assume we can analyze the job the FO has done.
They've done a poor job.
The adolescent whining is to be expected, but the outright stupidity of some of these comments is another thing..
That is undeniable, the FO gets an F this year.
- I'm sorry dude, but what in the ?
My mistake for assuming you might actually be following the Spurs. Start with the Bonner contract (designed to be moved for assets), Splitter's contract, Manu's contract, the draft, and the disaster that is Ayers. The only saving grace was the Belli contract. This is easily the worse front office job by Buford. If another team wants the old drunk they can have him.
