You can't fix stupid.
After all the years of success, you would just toss the best GM in the game out? Even after a Finals appearance which went 7 games?
You can't fix stupid.
Not sure what the glaring whole is. Backup 3? As I was saying before, and I think I've seen you address this as well, why would we want another three if it means he's eating in to the minutes of our already set playoff rotation? I understand were kind of "putting our eggs in one basket" with the guys we have, meaning if we get a key injury were really going to be up creek but barring any injuries our lineup is fine and set and nobody I have seen on the buyout market has proven to be better options then the 9 guys we already have.
Clippers may let Turkoglu go to sign Granger. What about signing Hedo, if that happens?
By posting in this thread at that moment you insinuated that by not signing anyone on the buyout market that RC failed the Spurs.
Ok, so you have a problem how the Spurs have been run for the last decade. Got you. Your opinion. I disagree.
Kleiza anyone? Just saw the idea on Facebook comments section.
According to who? We have enough room on the roster for both of them....
We got some free agents in the past when we were contenders. Now that we are on the older side, any free agent would see Thunder as on the rise and highly likely to make it to the finals.
While losing out on Granger is by no means a death knell to the Spurs' chances this season, I agree with DPG that the Front Office has done a poor job in bolstering the roster since last season. They made pitches to AK and Granger which were understandably rejected but when you see guys like Jordan Hamilton and Spencer Hawes (both would help the Spurs tremendously) be acquired for relatively peanuts, you just have to shake your head.
Hopefully the Spurs can stay healthy as a fully healthy squad is still good enough to reach the Finals but RC/Pop & Co. have not done much to maximize the margin for error that this team has going into the playoffs.
the FO tried to recruit these players. The players made their choices. Not really sure how the FO takes the blame for player decisions to sign elsewhere.
I agree with the general sentiment, but not with the specific examples. The Spurs would have had to include their first rounder to trump Cleveland's offer for Hawes and it's far from certain that Denver would have preferred Cojo or Nando to Brooks.
We are good at getting Euros to sign with us. Unfortunately, none of those bought out are Euros. Bellineli signed with us for less money. He's been a great signing.
Agree regarding the early 2nd rounders from Cleveland but I like CoJo/Nando more than Brooks especially for a team going nowhere like the Nuggets. Maybe a homer take tho tbh.
I'd agree, but we'll never know what was offered/rejected before the trade went down.
Time to:
amiright?
I'd take a pass on Hedo if he's released. I'm not impressed with what I've seen of him with the Clips.
Mentioned earlier in the buyout thread:
Can't find the other quote exactly but I also mentioned that I'm not sure if we have enough money for buyout and contract of said player. Plus a lot of the good players teams are still doing well standings wise in the Euroleague Top 16. But it wouldn't surprise me if the Spurs made a move like this.
The San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks all made a run at Granger, but ultimately he chose the Clippers late Thursday night because they offered him the best opportunity to play meaningful minutes for a contender.

I guess Riley, Cuban, and Morey didn't try hard enough..
He sucks. Good news for the Spurs.
Any time that takes away from Jackson/Lamb/Fisher is a good thing tbh.... Hopefully it's like the Kevin Martin thing again for them.
Sign up Hakim Warrick tbh....
Dido on hedo, he's garbage! I'll take our chances with the team we have. I'll agree that the FO has let us down this year with trades and buyouts but ultimately we don't know what they actually tried to do. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt seeing as though we've sustained the model franchise for the last 17 years!
Oh. Okay okay. Yeah it seems an interesting idea.
Hey Bruno, any idea?
They get $455k for buyouts. Should be plenty for an expiring whom the team does not plan to re-sign, but not much more than that.
I'm hoping the Spurs were confident they were going to sign Granger, is the reason why they didn't go after MWP.
