I don't know. Perkins is such a useless bag of , it seems like opposing teams would want him in as much as possible
Subbing Butler in for Perkins is a good thing for the Spurs if you ask me. We should be able to score at will with that lineup of theirs. Diaw could probably guard in Butler lmao. Sag off and let the dude shoot. Sounds fine with me.
lol caron butler.

Perk guards Duncan very well tbh.
I would agree but fwiw the Thunder are 0-4 without Perkins in the lineup this season and 2-6 without him the last two seasons.
Ramona Shelburne @ramonashelburne
The Thunder is the latest team to express interest in guard Ben Gordon, source says. Gordon continues to work on a buyout w/ Bobcats.
Ramona Shelburne @ramonashelburne
Unlike the other teams who'd previously expressed interest in Gordon, OKC is open to a deal that would preserve BGs free agency this summer
Hmm. Those stats surprise me. I stand corrected.
I love people who come into a forum missing the entire offseason and the trade deadline and then have the gall to ask how did the FO fail the team.
You do know people don't have to read SpursTalk to follow the Spurs, right?
lol wut
Completely disagree. The Thunder were going to play small no matter what. If this encourages OKC to play Butler over Jackson, it's a major win for the team. But that is not going to happen. We're talking about the WCF here. There's no way the Thunder play more than four wings, even going small. Durant, Sef, Jackson/Westbrook and Lamb/Fisher will get the minutes. The Spurs will run with their four wings and supplement them with Mills and Joseph depending on the situation. Diaw will see time as the four when OKC goes small, but he can easily guard Butler and Fisher and use his size on the other end.
The only team that has a matchup advantage on the Spurs is Houston. The Spurs matchup well with the Thunder. OKC is just more talented.
Anything limiting splitter helps us. Anything limiting their youngsters helps us.. what a ing Stupid ass move butler is going to be taking had and lamb minutes... Wtf thunder
ass Granger .
Lol Clippers
or..their best player is much better than our best player and then they match up in every other way. durant is the one they can go to when it gets down to winning time that is pretty much unstoppable.
Nah. They're more talented almost across the board.
What gave you that idea? They've largely gone away from playing small the past two seasons, though that was probably because they lacked depth of size on the wing. Butler's minutes won't come at the expense of Jackson, but Adams and possibly Lamb/Fisher.
It's bad news not because Butler is some savior, but because he gives them more flexibility, something the Spurs lack, with their two forwards that are good enough to be in a playoff rotation.
Now that any hope of adequately filing their gaping hole is officially overat those who gave them the benefit of the doubt and got their hopes up over the deadline/buyout period. As I correctly predicted months ago, at best they'd make an inconsequential deadline trade and inevitably strikeout on the buyout market. I know this organization like the back of my hand.
Eh whatever. If he doesnt play well Doc will pull the plug on Granger too the same way Pop would. I'm not even sure Granger can out play Dudley or Barnes at this point. Their rotation will be screwed up for awhile. Doc will be trying out one or two one night and then one or two the next night.
No. The Thunder stopped playing small when Westbrook went down. They played it plenty in 2012 and in last year's Houston series. Obviously, they didn't against Memphis. OKC has shown a strong preference toward playing Russ at the two in small ball. If that changes, all it does is make OKC slower on the perimeter. You think Butler coming in instead of Jackson is an advantage? No. The Spurs can play Manu or Beli on him and win that battle. There's really only one player on the Spurs who can guard Jackson, and he'll be on Westbrook.
If (and its a BIG IF) Manu plays like Manu (not turnover, bad pass Manu) then the Spurs will be vastly improved in the post season. He's a difference maker when he plays his best basketball. Caron Butler, Danny Granger, Earl Clark and anyone else that's been signed recently will not have a huge impact for their respective teams. That would have been the same for us if we had signed them too. Not gonna happen.
The Spurs are who they are and that's a friggin great team. It amazes me what short memories people have sometimes. We SHOULD have beaten Miam in 6 games, including twice on the road. all these pretty, fastbreaking, alley-ooping teams in the West. We'll be just fine. I want Houston, OKC, Portland and whoever else wants a piece of us in the playoffs. Bring it on....The Spurs are about to start getting their groove back real soon. They aren't there yet of course, but the timing looks awesome.
I don't mean small on the perimeter. They've played a lot of three guard lineups by default given their lack of a true backup SF. I mean small in terms of Durant at PF. They did it a decent amount in the playoffs because of the Rockets proclivity for playing small and in an attempt to get as much offense on the floor as possible against the Grizzlies, but they've generally strayed from it the past two seasons. Now they won't, which means their offense will go to another level . . . and the Spurs couldn't guard them to begin with.
We just have to agree to disagree here. Both teams will play small and only use four wings in their rotations. The small-ball battle will be fought among those eight players.

Pop on new free agents: 'R.C. and the boys are doing their due diligence but there's nothing there we're super excited about'
Sounds like a barb more than an explanation.
Small ball rulez....
And people wonder why Granger didn't sign, what a great message from Pop to any potential target out there... Guess what old man, they're not super excited about playing for a chocker like you either...
