After several threads claiming to have been “Best win of the year” (yes you can utilize the search function in the forum for that) I think the discussion has been put to rest likely for the reminder of the regular season after The San Antonio Spurs 111-87 win over the Miami Heat.

A healthy Spurs squad put the “Can’t win against the top teams” chatter to rest with an exclamation point by providing the NBA defending champs their biggest loss of the season.

    Tim Duncan 21

    Offense: A
Timmy was effective throughout and came up clutch in the waning moments of the game. His J was smooth and so was his flawless FT shooting. TD has knocked down 25 of his last 27 free throws and is playing a sharp and fresh brand of basketball lately.

    Defense:A
Apart from his 11 rebounds that rounded his nightly double- double, the single block shot on the stat sheet don’t make justice to the amount of shots he altered from the entire Heat squad. He was mobile and protected the rim like he used to do in his prime.

    Tony Parker 9

    Offense: B
MVParker started the game clicking in all cylinders. He was relentless attacking the rim and his J was working. Throughout, he had a great showing tonight and made smart basketball decisions. I would have liked for him to distribute the ball more but he was taking what was given to him.

    Defense: B-
Tony was the first layer of the defense for the Spurs tonight though didn’t overly commit and wasn’t overly aggressive. His zero fouls shows that he was staying in the right position at the right time. Fought through screens and did what was asked from him.

    Kawhi Leonard 2

    Offense: B-
Kawow’s offense wasn’t great tonight but it got the job done. Made his long distance J be respected early by hitting a three pointer and then got his O out of his incredible effort on D (more on that a few lines ahead). He had to fight with the league’s MVP to get his share. Overall, I really liked how he battled and remained aggressive getting to the rim.

    Defense: A
Leonard’s D was fantastic and arguably the MVF (Most Valuable Feature) of the win tonight. He was matched up with Lebron and did a prime Bowen impersonation of not only making him a stressed jump shooter but also getting in his head (plz read Sleeve excuses threads and mask quitting ones too). If Kawhi is capable of sustaining his type of defensive level I like the Spurs chances in going back to their mid 2000’s form when the system included an elite defender as a key piece in a championship season.

    Boris Diaw 33

    Offense: B+
Boris offensive outing tonight may go underlooked as one of the key pieces of the Spurs victory. He hit 100% of his shots and bullied Battier in his post ups that led either to a basket or an assist. He also was the Spurs leading disher and also led in the +/- ratio rating too. Overall, Diaw was key and if he can keep himself available as a threat, the Spurs could very well be in for another long offseason run.

    Defense: B+
Boris rebounded above his averages and his switches were fast and furious. Even though he led the team in minutes played, there were no signs of him being tired to be an enforcer in his role. Great night for Boris.

    Manu Ginobili 20

    Offense: B

Turnobili didn’t show up tonight simply as that. Manu’s offense was effective and luckily for many Spurs fans he committed just 1 turnover. I’ll take this type of nights shooting 50% of the field and 4 dimes. The most important thing is that I feel Manu is slowly getting over the Heat.

    Defense: C-
Gino’s night on D was nothing to write home about. He was slow in the first half even when chasing Allen (the easiest assignment possible for any player on the night) and got late to his appointments. Proof of a somewhat flukish evening are his 0 rebounds. In the second half when the Heat got closer in the scoreboard, Manu ramped up his aggressiveness and showed he may just be coasting saving some juice hopefully for when it matters most for all of us…

    Danny Green 4

    Offense: C+
Classic Danny’s offensive outing tonight. He made his J be respected with a couple of treys but when forced to drive didn’t deliver. I don’t have much more to say about Green’s night scoring the basketball. His biggest impact of the night was on…

    Defense: B
I liked how Danny performed his Defensive duties. He led the team in blocked shots and covered his assignments with grit and pride. Even though Wade was very effective (from there that I can’t give Danny a higher score on D) #4 played his role as expected and that is good.

    Tiago Splitter 22

    Offense: B-
Tiago was effective. That can pretty much sum up the game he played. He played smart and within his capacities and also distributed the ball with smart passes that led to his 4 asissts.

    Defense: C+
I would expect more from Splitter’s ability to rebound the basketball. Just 2 rebounds for a seven footer in almost 20 minutes of action leaves a lot to be desired #tbh.

    Marco Belinelli 3

    Offense: B-
Marco played smart and hit a more than respectable field percentage. He didn’t try to be the hero and was confident throughout. Good outing.

    Defense: C+
Stayed in front of his man and fought hard. That’s all what we can ask from Marco and he delivered.

    Patty Mills 8

    Offense: B
The Tasmanian Devil showed that he is ready to be key for this Spurs squad. Scored half his shots and hit a gigantic three from way beyond the arc in a moment when the Heat were pushing to climb back. In limited playing time he complemented his teammates and didn’t try to be a savior. Overall, Patty’s demonstrating that he can play Gary Neal’s role as well as also adding more comfort in the backup PG historically troubled Spurs role. I hope he’s kept with the team for the future.

    Defense: B+
10 Boards in 17 minutes off the bench? Are you kidding me? It could have perfectly been just “one of those nights” for the Australian havoc creating player but not only he boarded, he also made his opponent work hard and provided toughness and confidence that was spread throughout the second unit.

Rest of the bunch: (Joseph, Daye, Baynes, Bonner)

Let the “PlayDaye” troll be born. Two threes, a rebound and an assist in 2 minutes… Yes…

    Coach Pop

    Offense: B
Rotations were sharp and stood out of his player’s way. Liked the minute management and making Diaw stay most of the game out there proved to be a brilliant move.

    Defense: A
Keeping the NBA Champs under 90 points is something no media outlet is actually highlighting. Thanks to @ and timvp we are able to bring this to you first hand from people that see every single Spurs game and understand that THAT was the most important aspect of the game tonight.

enrique did jack in the 2nd half, the sooner this clown realises he should be deferring more when he starts to brick 3-4 straight spurs possession without passing it to anyone, the sooner the spurs can get back to better unselfish basketball

the look and fire in td and kawhis eyes tonight clearly showed how much they want it tonight

as for kawhi u can clearly tell how much frustrated he was with his hard fought defensive plays/stops on lebron and co, only to see some head fck it up on the other end...whatever happen to rewarding the player who created offense out of defense on transition....

wankers and asslickers upstairs better enjoy whatever time kawhi has left with this team, his leaving for greener pastures then allowing some turd to coatride him to anything is better then winning with enrique

Uh, uh. None of that happy horse . That bridge was burned many moons ago. I watched it. And I vowed there'd come a day when I would pull the strings.

That day has arrived. You'll win the last game played in June, or, you'll shuffle on in, set down next to us and 27 others and commissed a shinin' shoes. And that's just the way it's gonna be.

Good read and nice complement to the other game grades for the game. The pictures were great, especially the one of Tiago with his hands straight up. That was as vertical as possible, but I assume LeBron got to the line anyway.
Thanks for putting in the time.
