any chance the plane blew up in midair?
I doubt it. The news accounts show no debris yet. Some floating debris should have been spotted by now. I will assume the two or more with stolen passports took over the plane, flew under the radar, turned off the trackers, and landed or crash landed it on land someplace.

they were obviously terrorists and it's a legit terrorist attack, which coincides with the knife slaughter that took place just a few days prior. they attacked the plane's electronic-controlling system using computer virus, with the purpose of taking control of the plane and launching a terrorist attack on beijing in a way similar to 9/11, but their technology turned out to be insufficient to accomplish such a mission. They paralyzed the plane and caused it to dive in the sea. There're prudent security checks at the airport but it's basically impossible to keep all passengers under check when the plane is already in the sky imho. Terrorists could sneak into the plane's controlling unit and upload the virus into the plane from an iphone, a laptop or . This case marks the start of a new age of hijack/terrorist attack imho, they no longer need guns or bombs to hijack a plane.

The insurance carriers always pays for the time elapse from first lethal crisis to death. This sounds like a doozy.

    US statement as per Reuters:

The United States extensively reviewed imagery taken by American spy satellites for evidence of a mid-air explosion, but saw none at all, an authoritative U.S. government source said. The source described U.S. satellite coverage of the region as thorough.

Sadly, the plane might have crashed at angle not allowing it to float. What's even worse is that, it's possible that every single passenger is with the plane deep in the ocean/sea..making it extremely difficult to find.

I know this is going to be a really dumb question, but can phones be called even if it's sinked in water or does it get broke if it stays long enough in water?

^when you call an international number or a number that's traveling, you hear the normal ring a couple of times, then once the signal reaches the person you're trying to call the ring tone changes based on whatever region the phone is in.

Still, the only way they are going to work inside the aircraft so far away from land is if it has a cell repeater inside. Once the plane no longer functions, they would be too far from a tower. If this is fact, it could be what I suggested. They flew under radar and landed, or attempted to land elsewhere.

I would think it's possible they attempted to belly land the plane on water, and it sunk. That would explain no floating debris found yet.

Even domestic calls do that sometimes.

So apparently the waters the plane could have possibly crashed into is only 200m deep.

Anyone know if they are searching under water? or is it already detectable with radar, sonar etc?

I read someplace the black box has an ultrasonic beacon, which makes it locatable, but you still have to be within so many miles to puck it up.

they're surely searching under water otherwise what the do you think the need the missile destroyers for? they don't need to dive into the water to search it imho

Tbh maybe there's a way we could triangulate det position? If only we had some clues such as shadows from the sun
