guess Scott Brook should have read this thread before hacking that deadly shooter in the WCF, he would have known it couldn't possibly work...

Stupid troll post, however Tim isn't saving anything. It's not like he's missing intentionally. He's got a mental block when it comes to arch on the ball. Some nights he has it and some nights he just line drives to the front of the rim over and over. It's a shame he never learned the fundamentals of shooting a basic jump shot.

Splitter injured his wrist in the 2012 playoffs which would affect free throw shooting
and he went 6/12 in the game he was hacked and it changed absolutely nothing since the score difference was basically the same for another 5 minutes
hes also been shooting 70% since than which is above average for a C

Blake Griffin is getting a lot of love for improving his shooting this year and hes still sub 70%

and Tim last season was shooting the mid range exceptionally well
but its looking for like an anomaly than the norm
a big reason he struggled in the 2011 season was adapting to moving outside and less mobility

if Splitter can knock down a jumpshot and Tim plays better inside than it would make sense to go to that...tbh

Splitter definitely is a confidence player and when hes going hes really good
but Pop doesnt do much to help his confidence

first season he has to "get over himself" even though hes probably one of the most selfless guys on the team
has to ride the pine in favor of Bonner/Blair who repeatedly get abused by everyone while Blair posts the worst defensive numbers for a starting center in the NBA

2nd season he breaks out and posts good numbers but his minutes remain low and then Pop blows up on him in the playoffs after not making a rotation the Spurs hadnt made all series
proceeds to bench him for the rest of the series in favor of a Diaw/Manu frontcourt

3rd season he finally gained the confidence of Pop to play with Duncan and the Spurs returned to an elite defensive team and went to the NBA Finals

4th season Pop lost trust in him and plays him less despite an aging Duncan and no viable backups
also has too watch the worst player in Spur history Errors come in and get his minutes no matter what while he was treated like too start his career
Pop has definitely wasted Splitter's potential. That's part of the job of the coach is to figure out how to maximize each player.

I am praying Splitter evolves into a monster come playoff time and just annihilates the opposition. I can dream right?

It was a weird day for airballs all around, though. I like Splitter taking that shot when it's open.

So do I. I get to enough games really early to know that he works on his jump shot. I don't believe it will ever be a weapon, but I have no problem with him taking the shot when he's wide open.

Good to see that freetiago has a sense of humor. So many around here seem to lack one.

Do you think he might get to a Joakim Noah level of proficiency on that jumpshot? Noah's form is hideous and he puts sidespin on his jumpers, but I read somewhere that he's hitting 44% from the left side in that 18-23 foot range.

That mention of freetiago made me think he finally got bolded. What's taking so long?

On Tiago: He'd have to take the shot much more frequently and I don't see that happening as long as so many better options exist on the Spurs. I have seen him do a 3 pt drill that I've seen Bonner do many times. One where he works with a coach and simulates setting a pick and then moving to an open space beyond the arc, receives a pass and then puts up a 3. Nowhere near as good as Bonner (who rarely misses any in practice), but he knocked down about half of them.

On freetiago and bolding: the mods have abandoned us. The last new account was approved back in June, 2013. freetiago has an obvious bias towards one player, but he makes a real contribution to the Spurs forum, IMO.

You're asking too much. I'd be a happy mofo if he becomes Oberto 2.0 in the POs.

Wasn't he already Oberto 2.0 throughout last year's postseason?

Better defensively than Oberto, better offensively. Not as saavy or smart yet.

Splitter's value is at the defensive end, where he is an elite man-on-man defender and pretty good in the pnr. We don't need him to score a lot, just make a high % of his close looks, which he is doing (60% at the rim is fine).

He will be crucial in the second round defending Dwight or LMA.

splitter does the little things you dont see on the box score, esp on the defensive end. just watch how hard he makes it to score and you'll find your value for him.

Danny Green recognizing Tiago as the best mid range shooter on the team at 1:14 tbh..
