Why didn't Viet Nam track a plane that was to fly over their country.
Are they so lame that the radar for that country is that bad. I would bet the
US military was tracking the plane but not saying a thing to keep it
secret that they can do it........

There are now only two valid explanations as to why this plane vanished in thin air:

    1. Terrorist attack or hijacking, or any attack of similar nature
    2. Someone took Lost very seriously

While we're at it, why don't we give the entire South China Sea and its disputed territories to the country who will find the MH370 plane or its wreckage first. I bet China would find it in 15 minutes maximum.

Starting to think it didn't crash, and whoever took over the plane is negotiating behind the scenes with Malaysia for the hostages. There's no way they could be this incompetent in investigating where the plane went.

In a strange twist, Malaysia's military believes it tracked the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 by radar over the Strait of Malacca, far from where it last made contact with civilian air traffic control over the Gulf of Thailand.

A military source confirmed with Reuters that the Boeing 777-200ER with 239 on board changed course and made it to the other side of the Malay peninsula.
"It changed course after Kota Baru and took a lower al ude. It made it into the Malacca Straits," the military official, who has been briefed on investigations, told Reuters.

"The last time the plane could be traced by an air control tower was near Pulau Perak, which is on the Straits of Malacca at 2.40am.
"After that, the signal from the plane was lost," he said.
Incidentally, Malaysia Airlines first statement on the missing jetliner on Saturday said that air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane at 2.40am but it was later corrected to 1.30am.
It was also reported that a Singaporean air traffic surveillance and control unit also picked up the signal that MH370 "made a turn back before it was reported to have climbed 1,000 metres from its original al ude at 10,000 metres”.

The plane reported went off radar and its last known location was 065515 North (la ude ) and 1033443 East (longitude).
This is also supported with police reports made by some east coast residents, who claimed that they have seen huge lights and a plane flying at some 1,000 metres above sea level off Kota Baru.
However, search and rescue (SAR) authorities have failed to find any sign of the plane in the waters of the South China Sea.
Indications that MH370 might have turned back have since led the SAR operations to be expanded to the Straits of Malacca and the Andaman Sea.

CNN) -- [Breaking news update at 1:23 p.m. ET]

The Malaysian Air Force has traced the last known location of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 to a spot above Pulau Perak, a very small island in the Straits of Malacca and hundreds of miles from the usual Kuala Lumpur to Beijing flight path, according to a senior Malaysian Air Force official.

The official declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

If the Malaysian Air Force data cited by the source is correct, the aircraft was flying the opposite direction from its scheduled destination and on the opposite side of the Malay Peninsula from its scheduled route.
Previous accounts had the aircraft losing touch with air traffic control near the coast of Vietnam.

(CNN) -- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was hundreds of miles off course, traveling in the opposite direction from its original destination and had stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared, a senior Malaysian Air Force official told CNN Tuesday.

If correct, these are ominous signs that could call into question whether someone in the pit might have deliberately steered the plane away from its intended destination, a former U.S. aviation investigator said.

"This kind of deviation in course is simply inexplicable," said Paul Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board.

However, veteran pilot Kit Darby, president of Aviation Information Resources, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that mechanical problems could still explain everything: A power failure would have turned off the main transponder and its backup, and the plane could have flown for more than an hour, he said.

According to the Malaysian Air Force official, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the plane's transponder apparently stopped working at about the time flight controllers lost contact with it, near the coast of Vietnam.
