thank your "god" tbh
Despite the Lakers fans tanking schtick in the forum and social media, I have a firm belief that the team just plainly sucks . I mean just look at the product they are putting on the floor. Stinky!
I've warmed up to the idea of the lottery but I still feel bad whenever the Lakers lose another game and add another night of sorrows into their pile of this season.
You just can't pretend to be this bad
Bit of both tbh. Laker fans are deluding themselves if they think this team is going anywhere anytime soon tho; Lakers have a long painful rebuilding ahead of them.
With a healthy Kobe, and all the players putting in their A effort, and a magical season where all things click the Lakers at best are an 8th round team. I'm glad this happened to the Lakers given the reality of the situation with Jimbo. Sometimes its hard to wake up from a bad dream but if the nightmare gets worst you wake the up.
The Lakers will win several more rangs before the Spurs get one for the thumb.
Doubtful tbh.
You don't seem too sure of yourself.![]()
If the late Dr. Buss were still among us, I'd be inclined to agree with you. Luckily the product put on the court last year was enough to kill him and leave Jimbo with full reign to run the franchise into the ground. Meanwhile the Spurs have two more legitimate shots to win; two more than Fredo and co will give the Lakers over the next decade plus.
Lakers will be right back in the top flight next season with a healthy Kobe who is God, Wiggins and a few solid FA signings.
Now you just trolling. Fact: Dr. Buss has been ill for years. For years he has been leaving the day to day operations to Jim. It was Jim wwho has been signing off on deals like The Gift! and approved of the CP3 trade that should have led to getting D12 as well. The true mastermind behind both deals? MK. Injuries and bad luck (health) is what stopped the last few Laker teams from making deep playoff runs.
The Lakers haven't had an unprotected 1st round pick in a minute. When they did, they tanked hard - netting us Baby Drew. The stain you see this year is intentional. But I'm willing to bet you farmers won't see another sorry ass team next year. Two 5-timers have spoken.![]()
Both also helped engineer130 million which lead to The Achilles, The Sweep,The Begging, 48 (both versions), as well as the hiring of _'Antoni and many other goodies. All of this has occurred in the past 18 months, and had helped set Lakerland back years. If you honestly expect anything close to contention next year then I pity your mental state.
I KNOW cobielah wants to put it in a blender and slurp it down to nutrient his leg
Didn't say anywhere that we'd be contending next year. Reading is fundamental. I did say that the Lakers will win several rangs before the Sp*rs win one for the thumb. Considering y'all lucked out to get Tammy, didn't win jack before him, and I'm willing to go out on a limb and say y'all will suck ass for a long time after she retires. My point stands son.
You said we wouldn't be seeing a sorry-ass team next year, yet that's what we've seen the past two seasons. Lakers will be in the lottery next year and prolly the year after. No one will come play alongside Kirby and the Lolkers will continue to throw away assets to bring ty players to appease his desire to appear like a winner (ie chucking up shots and standing around on defense with one good leg).
As for the Spurs, they've been lucky in the past with the draft and it wouldn't shock me for them to get lucky again in the future.
Probably. But I don't see the Lakers winning another le for at least 10 years. There's no prime Shaq to heist. No dumb Utah Jazz to trade you a number 1 pick for Goodrich (which turned into Magic). No Cleveland to trade you a number 1 pick for cash (which led to James Worthy). No Hornets to trade their pick. The days of low level franchises being complete idiots seem to be over. The Lakers only hope is to somehow get Durant in '16 when Kobe is off the books. Beyond him, there's no superstar out there that can make an average team (which the Lakers are at full strength and healthy) into a contender. Maybe Anthony Davis in a few years. Also, the current young players you have now are completely wrong for the league's style. They're all jump shooters who can't defend. You have no young long small forward who is lockdown (I could see So Cal boy Leonard defecting, though). No young slashing 2 guard. No quick point guard. And no young two-way big who can play defense and hit a midrange jumper. The kind of problems the Lakers have can't be bought away in free agency.
They need to rebuild from the ground up.
Now that's just 6 talking. Check it: if Lakers have cap space, FAs will flock to LA. Even with Kobe's extension, they still have the cap space to field a nice team that can build towards contention. Here's an example:
Exum
Kobe
Stevenson
Pau
Asik
That ^ team makes the playoffs, but won't contend. I could see FAs wanting to play with Exum and Stevenson going forward. Add Love in '15 or KD in '16 - and we're back in contention. It's no coincidence that Kobe's deal is bigger than it should be, and expires when it will be ripe to poach on a disgruntled star in a small market. We saw it happen with Pau when you farmers laughed at Kwame's contract. I think it will happen again with KD, while you fat necks are laughing at The Extension!![]()
Acquiring talent in today's NBA is 10x harder. Egos weren't much an issue back in 1985 or even in the 90's because people wanted to beat the out of each other in the court; then Jordan globalized the game and now everyone wants to be a pampered superstar. Rebuilding might take a little longer and it will get trickier for the Lakers. They've an advantage which are the beaches and the es but Miami has that too, and New York the city of the world is very attractive for free agents too
It's a fact that Lakers fans need to face, but I don't expect them to take 10 years to win a le or at least get back to the Finals.
I'm basically saying the same thing in my previous post. I absolutely believe they are going after KD in '16. They'll have the big quick PG in Exum (who I'd draft over Parker or frail Embiid). I think he's the real deal. Like Kidd before him, people will love to play with him (and hopefully Stevenson). Speaking of which, I think $10M/per would pry him away from Indy.
These two players would form a solid backcourt for years to come. They both have the potential to be versatile 6'5" - 6'6" combo guards which is extremely valuable to have. I'd love start the rebuild with these two leading the way.
That team would not make the playoffs unless the West has a very down year. They would be terrible defensively, even more so under Mike D, considering the fact Exum would be green and Kobe hasn't played good defense in 4 years. And Stevenson is a very odd fit in that lineup. He's basically Joe Dumars-lite. He gets a few assists, but he isn't a PG. Asik isn't off Houston's books until '16, so you can forget about him next year. Pau is still a capable player, but he's on the downside of his career.
The Lakers really need a SF in the mold of George, Durant, Lebron, Leonard, Batum. Long, athletic, can play defense and score. Jabari Parker is the best prospect if the Lakers can get him.
Then they need a PG. Then they need a SG to replace Kobe. Then they need an Aldridge, Bosh, Duncan, type PF who can rebound, defend, and hit the mid range jumper. If Pau has a resurgence, he can fill that role, but that's a big if.
Like I said, the Lakers aren't in the position to simply heist a disgruntled star and then instantly contend. Since top flight draft picks are 18 years old now, they aren't NBA ready from the get go, and usually take years to develop. When the Lakers grabbed Shaq in '96, they had a great young crop of guys including a rookie Kobe. In '16 when the Lakers make their likely move for Durant, they'll basically have their lottery pick (who might or might not be a bust), an ancient Kobe, maybe Pau, and a bunch of young expendable, journeymen players. They'll have nothing resembling a developing team.
Rebuild will take time, and no the tank was not deliberate. They had injuries and a mismatched unit of players to coach.
They will still be irrelevant from le talk next year but should be better.
as T.S. Eliot once said - "This is how Kobe's career ends. Not with a bang but a whimper"
I can't really disagree with what you wrote other than the bolded. I believe if the above listed players mentioned are on our roster, if healthy, we make the playoffs. Big if considering how brittle Kobe is right nowProbably 1st round fodder, but they make the playoffs. Kobe's defense is no longer lock down, but with a rim protector (Asik) and a couple of wing defenders (like Wes Johnson) it can help mask his defensive shortcomings. Most contenders in the WC don't have lockdown defenders - other thank Thabo in OKC - yet they'll likely do well in the playoffs. This is including your Spurs, who made the Finals last year with Green and Manure as your wing defenders at the 2 guard. "That Dude" is on board now and is a good offensive player, but he can't guard a chair. Yet, I'm expecting y'all to come out of the west again this year.
Asik coming bing off the books in '16 won't be a deterrent. He's a solid defensive anchor that we can use. The problem would be prying him from Houston without us getting raped.
Also disagree about Jabari Parker. He is an offensive gem, but he appears to be a bum defensively. He's in the mold of Melo. I just think Exum has a higher ceiling and ends up a better two-way player in the long run. I'd like to see our coach (hopefully MDA is fired on the last day of the season) give Exum the keys as a rookie like Pop did for TP. Three rings later...
Robz putting in work. Nice.
And, sadly for the Lakers point of view, as real as it gets.
Mauricio coming up with wild roster fantasies again![]()
