I do, however, believe Mills does have really good rapport and chemistry with all the bigs (maybe with the exception of Tiago Splitter). Being with the Spurs for so long, it seems he is good at adapting the playing style each big man prefers. Patty has been able to give open 3's to Diaw numerous times, feed Aaron Baynes down in the paint where he can go for the easy dunk or layup. Most importantly, Patty had the praises of Tony Parker's twin because he picks off Tim Duncan so well for the jumper, almost EXACTLY like Parker. I believe if Patty can sustain the pick and pops with Duncan, then he will have a good chance to get more minutes come playoff because he's essentially doing what Parker does.

On a side note, I guess I'll go ahead and mention Gary Neal too. Gary Neal never could've made pick and pops as seamlessly as Patty Mills could.

Ever since the month of February when Patty pretty much played starting point guard minutes, Patty's played better with the ball in his hands than with Manu running the offense. He really has two options when he runs the offense. One: He creates a shot for himself, and two: he passes it off and lets Pop's system play itself out.
This. Patty runs the offense better than TP: it's not close. Unless TP's in beast mode, scoring everything (not often), then Mills is better than Parker. And Patty's 3 ball is just RIDICULOUS.

Why is that, you say? Because Parker is either too lazy, too tired, or too old to drive and kick as he should ALL THE TIME, and takes the easy way out with stupid hero ball, bogging down the Spurs offense terribly.

If some other team offers Patty 7m a year in the offseason, the Spurs had better match.

As long as Patty keeps doing what he's been doing there is no doubt he will be getting minutes in the playoffs. He's practically a necessity at this point because he takes loads of pressure off Ginobili with his superior ball handling ability (as opposed to Neal) combined with equally potent scoring.

Patty "running the offense" = chucking 26 shots

Seriously, anyone who thinks Neal is even HALF AS GOOD AS PATTY, is either a casual, or just being silly or contrary on purpose.

Well Pop did as Neal was way above Mills in the rotation when he competed against Mills for minutes... Portland didn't even think he was worth keeping... Midget SGs are just not that valuable. Mills = Nate Robinson without the hops...

Welcome casual NBA and Spurs fan. Let me give you a run down.

Tim Duncan has led the Spurs to 4 les.

Pop is is the best coach in the NBA, a HOF, but not perfect: see last year's Finals series for proof.

Lastly, if a player takes more than two steps (or "one and half"), then it's traveling, and a turnover, and the ball goes to the other team. Unless your name is Lebron James, or Ray Allen shooting the game tying 3 for the Heat, in the Finals. In which case, our officials didn't see it, but they are trying their very best; but don't you dare call their integrity into play, because they're all angels, and don't have a dishonest bone in their body.

Our offense pretty much requires at least one of Ginobili or Parker to remain on the floor at all times (not counting garbage time). In the playoffs it will be either Ginobili or Parker on the floor commanding the offense.
    This. In spades.

Lets get real. Pop admits he has been successful because of Duncan Parker & Ginobli. He will only go into playoffs with that base. If Parker has an off day he will back Parker to play himself into form, Same for Duncan and Ginobli. All 3 are brilliant players and they will adapt their game to overcome tiredness age etc But Pop will win or lose with them on the Court. You cant teach an old dog new tricks. He simply can't trust anyone else to get a championship ring. And why should he ? Patty will only get fill in roles with this coach and if he gets a big offer from another club he should take it for this reason unless Pop announces his retirement. The trouble is also with Patty ; clearly when Parker is on the floor Patty stops taking shots; he is clearly intimidated by the fact is that Parker is a marquee player and that it is Patty's role to pass to him rather than initiate a shot himself. And Parker is great because he is very compe ive and will force a drive with a small prospect of success rather than set up Mills for a 3.

I hope Mills gets a ring this year, but even if the Spurs take it all I doubt he will return next year. Pop will never give Patty a major roll in the future of the Spurs! I have to believe that based on his performance this year he will be a sought after FA after the season is over. Money talks!!!!

You cannot win 50 games a season for 15 or so straight seasons by having just a couple guys who you credit for success. The faces change but the results don't, so you have to look at what's common. That would only be Tim, as far as players go, but Tim has a much diminished role so there's no way he's the sole reason. I give him credit for being the lighthouse that guides the players in the right direction, but Pop decides the direction.

Depends on the matchu and if he's making his shots. If he is, he'll get minutes. Otherwise, he'll go with CoJo. In a Spurs/OKC matchup, I don't see Patty getting much burn. He'd get destroyed on the defensive end by Jackson.

Would have saved our asses in 6.
Hopefully Pop has enough options now that he doesn't have to stick with Turnobili when he's trying to throw the game.

Ray's 3 was legit. He just took his 2 steps backwards. That's actually a move he practices before every game. Being able to get the ball and get behind the 3pt line without looking.
