Dont disagree ... but to be fair Mike D has had a ty roster ill-fitted for his scheme.
With how important perimeter defense is in today's NBA, a Mike D'Antoni team, regardless of roster, won't go anywhere.
Where Kobe is wrong is thinking him in the post and a half court oriented offense like that in the repeat days is the answer. The Triangle and offenses like it (4 down in San Antonio, that won us 4 les) are now antiquated in today's "speed kills" NBA.

He did contribute to the roster by trading for Steve Nash though. Oh wait, wasn't that in the Mike Brown era?
Blame has to go around largely to Kobe & Pau. Those two should have taken less money so that the FO could have added good role players around them.

Toni like Mike were not given an opportunity to succeed, only to fail. The wrath of the fresh CBA continues to haunt and erode this organization. Until they can come to grips with this reality they'll continue to flounder.

Im with Thread ...hate the CBA but despite it all they completed deals for cp3 and Dwight. Stern nixed one and Dwight wasnt as advertised ...but still we begged for him to stay and he walked. Need to rebuild.
Thread is also right about how the new CBA "haunts" that is why Despite losing Howard for nothing I am glad we dont have Dwight and won't have Melo on max contracts in this new CBA. Dwight & Melo are short-sighted decisions that STILL won't lead to a le ... guys that warrant max money because of good not great play but cant lead a team to a le.
Sure, but Dwight's decision was absolutely perfect. He's making great money and on a team with a much better present and future. He sure as was not sniffing a le with a terrible broke down Kobe and he would be miserable. It's pretty damn clear he made the right choice.

And the Lakers had every opportunity. Should've just waited on the extension till this summer. I bet Kobe would've taken less had the contract negotiations been in July.
Would've been worth it tbh. All you have to do then was bring in an elite wing and you're set. You never know what the future can bring to your org. For some reason, Durant wants out of OKC, him & DH is guaransheed multiple rings.
There has been murmur Kobe doesn't want MDA to coach simply because he cannot go with the same pace again after his injury, I could see that as one of the angle assuming the rumors of Kobe not wanting Mike back are true.
In all honesty, D'Antoni is not a terrible coach, the Lakers prior to the injury bug were playing good basketball. They were hovering at the 500 mark, but the offense was a beauty to watch, they were simply a Superstar way from becoming a post season threat. Personally, since they're not going anywhere next year and one of their biggest post play proponent isn't either, I'd prefer to keep Mike and see where the chips may fall.
He's got one style which isn't adaptable to every roster and is a proven failure in the postseason. Still, I prefer him over Mike Brown/Doc Rivers/any BHC who just screams and sweats on the sidelines
Disagree. His future is bleak. They are the even worst than the early 2000's rendition of the Kings. They'll have regular season and early playoff round success. But when it is time to actually do something, they'll get their pushed in. Like this.
Their best two players got neutered today. They kept Beard off the Wade line, he ends up with 8 pints on 2-7 FGAs and a -30. D12 shot a respectable 5-7 FGAs, but he unimpactful as well, as his -28 indicates.
They're a fun team. I wouldn't even put them on the level of the 2005-2008 Phoenix Suns. They'll win a first round series, but that's their ceiling. The Bulls pulled their panties down and paddled that ass Tammy style.
