Lakers won't get first dibs on anything anymore for a long time. The clippers are the new lakers. You get all the glitz and glamor of "L.A." with a well coached playoff contender. Who the wants to go to the Lakers now![]()
I'm not sure if he will go to big Market teams. Probably will ask for a max contract and to be the franchise player in a potential contender.

Yes after retirement, much like Olajuwon mentors Dwight now.
If he remains healthy, and gets on a decent squad...He may TD 2.0
Imagine KG if he didn't have to go up against Shaq, Dirk and Timmy in the playoffs. That's what Davis' career will be.
I mean, who is gonna challenge Davis? The other top PF right now are Griffin, Love and Aldridge. Just imagine what prime KG would do to them to get a taste of how dominant Davis can be.
There is such a lack of big men in the league that Davis should dominate the league. Hopefully the Pelicans don't screw it up for him, they already tossed away their 2014 pick on Jrue Holiday.
He is hands down the player I want the most to come to the Spurs. He really looks like the next great big to lead teams deep into the post season, and he would flourish here so much. The problem is he's not gonna sign here as a free agent most likely (though I really don't see him needing the Miami/L.A spotlight so much) so hopefully he demands a trade from New Orleans before his contract expires and hopefully we have the best package to offer at that point.
Would also have no problem whatsoever getting Drummond if that were to somehow happen
He's very raw but the potential is there. Detroit is like the worst best team on paper with all the talent/potential they have on that roster.
The only way Spurs have any chance at Davis is if Pop sticks around when Tim retires. Kid looks like he has the right mindset, and can careless about the big market but I can see him going back to his hometown of Chicago someday if the Pelicans continue to struggle. Pelicans don't look like they're going anywhere either the next couple of years also, unless they land a top pick these next few years and get rid of Monty Williams. If they show any hope I think Davis will stay, and get that max contract. One can dream how badass the Spurs will be with possibly one down season of getting a top pick, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis. We would be contending for a while if we get someone who is half the coach Pop is.
What makes you think NOR wants to be a perennial loser? I'm pretty sure they're going to try to lock him up by the time he hits free agency. He's a franchise player you build a team around.
Unfortunately they have a horrible front office. Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith got $65m/3yr combined (Smith has a 4th year at $13.5m), which means they almost certainly lose Greg Monroe. Just terrible, you can't trust Joe Dumars with cap room.
haha, i was about to say something until i saw the bold at the end. but we have no chance at getting him. he'll probably be in LA or NY when his contract is up.
Davis will surely get the 5 year extension and will be with the Pelicans until 2021. Can't begin to imagine what the league will look like then, this kind of speculation is nonsense
as if the pelicans would let him go. when he's an RFA they're gna give him the max or just match whatever he gets. his only alternative would be to sign the 1 year tender, but thats gna be pennies on the dollar considering the guaranteed $ he can sign up for
Agreed, I don't see any player doing this.
If they match is because someone offered max...hope is the Spurs. You cant contend without a superstar, and this kid is. All stars will get you to the POs, but you need superstar to win it all.
He will take his talents to south beach when miami gets rid of bosh to make room for him lol
Two more years until he's a RFA and then they'll lock him up with a max extension. Let's all move on here.
Great thread. Best big men will sign contract with Spurs, which will be without Pop, Duncan, Manu.![]()
not to mention all this happened right as they were almost done cleaning up the charlie villaneuva / ben gordon mess.....
He won't be available until 2019, at the earliest.
Of course, they aren't gonna want to lose him at all. What I'm saying is the only chance of us realistically acquiring him would be if he were to pull a Melo or Dwight and demand a trade out of there before he hits free agency, so the Pelicans would then be forced to deal him to get something back for him at least. There's pretty much no way he will sign as a free agent here, so trading for him is the only way I could see it happening and he would only be traded if he threatened to leave.
Wow, I didn't know they gave up Noel and a top 5 protected 2014 first. Philly won huge in that deal.
