yep. he's gonna say " home court and winning, lets lose on purpose"
perfect thread. why didn't i think of this
You guys think Popovich might throw the game against the Pacer's in order to keep them above Miami in the standing? I hope not because this can play against us with OKC in our tail.
No way are the Pacers winning a series with Miami without home court, however Miami can beat them either way.

He didn't sound like he wanted to throw this game away in recent interviews..
Pop is not going to risk the Spurs' chance at HCA to aid the Pacer's chance at HCA.
Agree.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Pop has no interest in manipulating the East standings. He's obviously committed to locking up HCA throughout the playoffs, which the Spurs are on course to do. Miami will likely be East champion and the Spurs should be more concerned with having four out of a potential seven full games at home against any opponent, including OKC, the team that will be the largest hurdle to winning back to back West les. In all honesty, the Spurs should try and win this one, because Indy is reeling and the Spurs could use a comfortable cushion heading into Thursday's game in Oklahoma.
Shouldn't matter since the Spurs have a comfortable lead over both East teams. The Spurs need OKC off their backs.
I thought that we should somewhat give this game up in order to have a better chance to beat OKC, because that game will most likely decide the first seed in the West.
We are the best road team in the NBA and more than likely will have the best overall record.

Just a silly premise. Lets throw a game just so Indiana may or may not get home court in a series they may or may not make it to.

Spurs will play this one straight Duncan, Parker and Ginobili have played minimal minutes since the @ Sacramento game. Plus Bogut and [possibly] Lee will miss the GSW game ,after this one. Duncan could theoritically sit that game to be ready for the OKC game.
I'll have what the OP is drinking.
This reminds me when a reporter asked Pop if they'd "mail in a game" and Popovich was just dumbfounded that someone would actually suggest that. I know that was during the Finals, but still.
I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe Pop "throws games". Even when he chooses to rest players, he does it so they can rest...not with some ulterior motive hoping that the team loses.
OKC already own the tie breaker so it doesn't matter who wins the game
It would if we lose our next two games, TBH.
But it's not any more important than the next two games, or the any of the games after OKC.
Pop ain't pulling that bull anymore. Not after 6.
imo the spurs will try to win the next 5 games and then take the foot off the accelerator pedal. (regardless of the seeding at that point)
so given that logic and the fact that we most likely will go 3-2 at worst in the next 5 games. I see spurs should still be able to keep home court throughout. In other words it would take a small collapse for Spurs to give up home court to the OKC Thunder. Unlikely but Spurs and collapses go hand in hand often (see 2014 Finals specifically Manu's 8 turnovers in game 6)
Who even cares about the ing Pacers? They're a ghost of the hope and hype from the beginning of the season. Hibbert and Paul George have severely regressed, their second unit and roster chemistry is a mess and this is well known and admitted by now-

, they could even get upset by some Eastern playoff team and the Miami-Indiana ECF everyone expected for the entire year could actually not happen. I'm not saying it's likely, but one has to concede there's a chance of someone upsetting them and they've really never looked weaker. They ing lost to CLEVELAND a couple days ago, I mean jesus christ, this may still be the season but their play in almost every game but the one with Miami has been severely worrying.
If they can make it to the ECF, I think they lose to Miami either way, home advantage or not. Even that last home game with Miami where it's the most recent one where they showed any compe iveness or life, even in that one they let it get way closer than it should've been and almost choked. Not that I don't think it's possible that they can take Miami down in a seven game series, but it'd mean Hibbert and George having to return to the potential from the beginning of the season that they haven't been consistently showing. That's possible, maybe they're sleeping and will finally wake up for the playoffs, but personally I think the "coasting because it's the season" excuse is flimsy and ty for everyone other than the current NBA champion and even then it's pretty flimsy.
All I can hope for at this point is that they give Miami a of an exhausting seven game series to at least give the Heat a one-series fraction of the hypercompe ive that whoever coming out of the West is going to experience.
'em. They're a mess and now's the time to have some fun kicking them while they're down. The best anti-Miami hope is going to be a team coming out of the West, we all know this.
Lately, the team to do that has looked like Brooklyn.
