They weren't riots. They were civilians on the streets en mass who were loud, but the escalation was brought about by like that cop needlessly getting physical to a pedestrian.

Its fun to show the world how cops react when irritated, let's test them, take some pepper spray just for the of it. These students are just fighting for their freedom, just like the people of Syria. If they would have just smoked pot they would have been next to a cop in a doughnut shop on a binge mission.
