It's aknown fact in business. As costs for doing business go up, they find ways of keeping the costs from rising. One way is to try to manage manhours better and do with less labor.

Businesses will just fire employees and make the ones the still have do the work of three people. That WILL Happen. And when those employees can't work anymore due to burn out or health issues they'll just replace

yeah, Obama "created" some jobs during his tenure but most of them are ty ones, while the number of decent jobs was severely reduced as an expense. He just converted some good jobs into more ty ones, which is like converting your $100 note into 100 pieces of $1 ones just like I said. Son of a just plays a blunt trick that only fools would buy, but the majority of population in this country are undereducated scrubs just like OP unfortunately.

Then why is Australia's unemployment rate at 4% with a $16.00/hour minimum wage?

CBO said it would cost jobs. The CBO is no the end all be all, but if they are saying a $10/hr min. wage will cost jobs that is saying something.

    The Australian Minimum Wage Myth

A few weeks ago, the Australian government raised minimum wage to A$15 an hour (about $15.30 USD). It's more than double the federal minimum wage in the United States.

Statists say that Australia is proof that minimum wage laws help workers. They point to Australia's 5.1% unemployment rate. On my last show, Steven Greenhouse, the author of "The Big Squeeze: Tough Times for the American Worker" said "the economy of Australia probably, right now, is doing better than the economy of the United States."

    But statists ignore the details.

Most people who earn minimum wage are young, unskilled workers. How are they doing in Australia?

In June, Australia's unemployment rate for workers age 15 to 19 was 16.5%.

Last December, 63% of all jobs lost were jobs for young, unskilled Australians.

It's simple: when the price of something goes up, people buy less. So when the price of labor goes up, employers hire less.

When the Wall Street Journal reported the minimum wage increase in Australia, it called the law "a victory for unions." But that seems strange because union workers normally make more than minimum wage.

But it is a victory for unions because union bosses know that raising the minimum wage reduces compe ion from unskilled labor. Union support for minimum wage laws is entirely self-serving.

The unseen consequences of minimum wage laws are the millions of poor, disadvantaged people who don't have job opportunities. In the United States, it hurts poor people and inner-city minorities. In Australia, it hurts young workers.

Australia is an example of how minimum wage helps some groups, and hurts others. Even in a good economy, the young, inexperienced workers are left out.

Everything over there is ridiculously expensive...I remember an Aussie complaining on this other forum about how a 2 liter of Coke was like 4-5 dollars.

That's what a 1-liter goes for in New Zealand, and their minimum wage was about $12 an hour when I was there. But that's with a 15% sales tax already factored in. Still, was expensive as there.

Raising it to $10 an hour still won't make up for employee hours lost to the Obamacare definition of "full time" being 30 hours a week. Rational employers cut millions of workers hours back to below 30 to avoid the penalty.

How can anyone take the OP seriously if he can't even figure out that there's a political forum for this garbage.

...but of course he thinks he can do anything regardless of order...then demand over regulation for more. Way to contradict yourself.

Personally I don't think there should be a minimum wage. However I do like Obama's proposal for raising the threshold for salaried workers closing the loopholes some companies are using to skirt overtime. So he's 1 for 2 on that deal.
