anxiously waiting for interweb doctor opinion on the severity
Grade 1 calf strain symptoms
Grade 1 calf strain is a minor tear with up to 10% of the muscle fibers effected. The athlete will feel a twinge of pain in the back of the lower leg. They may be able to carry on playing or competing in mild discomfort. There is likely to be tightness and aching in the calf muscles two to five days after injury.
Grade 2 calf strain symptoms
Symptoms of a grade 2 calf strain will be more severe than a grade one with up to 90% of the muscle fibers torn. A sharp pain at the back of the lower leg will be felt with significant pain walking. There is likely to be swelling in the calf muscle with mild to moderate bruising. Pain will be felt on resisted plantar flexion or pushing the foot downwards against resistance. There may be tightness and aching in the calf muscle for a week or more.
Grade 3 calf strain symptoms
There will be severe immediate pain at the back of the lower leg. The athlete will be unable to continue and unable to walk. There will be considerable bruising and swelling appearing and the athlete will be unable to even contract the calf muscle. In the case of a full rupture, often there is deformity where the muscle can be seen to be bunched up towards the top of the calf. A grade three is a near, or complete rupture of the muscle.
didn't Gino broke his hand in Minnesota?
cursed place
contusion
Grade 1: What does it feel like?
•You might have tightness in the back of the lower leg.
•You may be able to walk properly.
•You probably won't have much swelling.
•Trying to push up onto your toes probably won't produce much pain.
•You should have nearly a full range of motion.
What can the athlete do?
•Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate (R.I.C.E.) immediately.
•See a sports injury professional who can advise on a rehabilitation program.
What can a Sports Injury Specialist or Doctor do?
•Use sports massage techniques to speed up recovery (very important).
•Use ultrasound and electrical stimulation.
•Prescribe a rehabilitation programme.
Grade 2: What does it feel like?
•You probably cannot walk properly.
•You may get occasional sudden twinges of pain during activity.
•You may notice swelling.
•Pressing in causes pain.
•Pushing up on tip toes causes pain.
•You may have limited range of movement..
What can the athlete do?
•Ice, compress, elevate, use crutches for 3 to 5 days.
•See a sports injury professional who can advise on a rehabilitation programme.
What can a Sports Injury Specialist or Doctor do?
•Use sports massage techniques to speed up recovery (very important).
•Use ultrasound and electrical stimulation.
•Prescribe a rehabilitation programme consisting of stretching, strengthening and a gradual return to full fitness.
Grade 3: What does it feel like?
•You will be unable to walk properly without the aid of crutches.
•You will be in severe pain.
•You will have bad swelling appear immediately.
•A static contraction will be painful and might produce a bulge in the muscle.
•Expect to be out of compe ion for 3 to twelve weeks.
What can the athlete do?
•Week 1: You should seek medical attention immediately. R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate.) Use crutches.
•See a sports injury professional who can advise on rehabilitation.
Good god man I thought we were past this crap. At least its not the hammy again.
CoM trying to laugh this stuff off after he blew the Finals.![]()
They're going to amputate. Manu will announce his retirement tomorrow.
nu uh... he was so-so
Don't really need him in the 1st round, tbh, but hopefully it's nothing serious or with lingering potential..
he was chillin in the bench at the end, I can't think it's a season/career ender...
well you don't want him to play in the finals anyways so it should be good news for some.
Sounds like it was just a bruise as he was frogging on the bench in the 4th. This just means that Nono will only get him 6mil/year on his next contract tbh.
CoM like Radical Islam up in here.
If the injury is serious, Spurs might have a chance vs Miami
Mugen gets it, tbh... there's deals yet to be made...
I want both him and Enrique playing well as I want the Spurs to win. Just tired when they screw up, their fanbases have to start spinning.
FWIW, I said he played really poorly last playoffs... no spin there, IMO
