Hard to believe Texas may land a blue-chip TE this year.

JUST GOT OF THE PHONE WITH CHARLIE STRONG!
A huge step to helping our athletes be their best.
RB/ATH Kirk Johnson and his brother 2016 WR Collin Johnson plan to make their decision "around May 15" after visiting us, Tennessee, USC and UCLA over the next couple of weeks, according to 247.
Three more interesting names can be added to the Spring Game.
'16 TE Marquise Guinn of Carthage. 24/7 mentioned him a while ago. He loves Texas. He is the cousin of Kendall Thompson. He was quoted back in January that he would "commit on the spot" if offered.

'15 QB Carter McCown of Jacksonville will be in attendance. Some of the mods over at 24/7 LOVES him. They think he could end up being the biggest QB steal in the state this year.

'17 OL/C Jack Anderson of Frisco will be in attendance as well. He has been at Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma in recent weeks. His tape looks pretty good for a freshman. 24/7 reported that he thought about coming in, but he confirmed on Twitter not long after.

OrangeBloods reporting OL George Brown, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH is planning on visiting UT the first week of May.

According to Rivals, RB Derrius Guice of Baton Rouge, LA will be in Austin next week.
Update on QB Kai Locksley of Baltimore, MD (OrangeBloods):
"It (the UT offer) happened probably the first week of April. Coach Strong first followed me on Twitter. I had known him from the past, my dad working with him (at Florida). I was very excited, thought they might start recruiting me," Locksley said. "So he sent me a DM and asked me to call all him. I was very excited, I'm very blessed to get offered by a powerhouse like Texas. It's just an honor."
"They're definitely up there. After the offer, I'll have to re-shape my top 15. They definitely have a spot in there," Locksley said. "I can't neglect a powerhouse like Texas. That definitely shakes things up. I'm glad they're in there."
"That's one of the first things they said after he offered. The next phone call the next week, they want me to get down there to see what Texas is all about," Locksley said. "I'm taking these visits in April and was going to take a break in May but I'm hoping to fit them in the month of May. If not then, definitely this summer."
"The next step is to cut it down after I've seen the schools I've wanted to see. Then towards end of summer, I'll trim it to five or three," Locksley said. "I'd like to make a decision before, during or after the first game of the season."
"I would say the most important thing is just the fit. In terms of that, it's everything - the offensive scheme, the offensive coaches, knowledge at the position, how they develop past quarterbacks," Locksley said. "And what's at the position right now. I want to be on a team that I can contend. I won't be opposed to redshirt, but I want to be able to at least compete. All those will be a factor in what fits."
Update on QB Max Wittek from 24/7:
“It’s a done deal or as close to one as you can get,” said the source. “He’ll announce it within a month or so and I fully expect him to be a Longhorn.”
“He’s definitely well aware of that situation,” the source said. “He knows that there isn’t much behind Ash at this time, so it’s something that has caught his attention.”
Quotes from 2016 TE Marquise Guinn of Carthage (24/7):
“I’m going to the (Texas) spring game,” Guinn told Horns247. “Me and my quarterback will be up there to check everything out. I’m very excited about it. I can’t wait.”
“Texas A&M is recruiting me pretty hard and I heard from them a few times last week actually,” said Guinn. “They're trying to get me out there for a camp. Texas is definitely still the favorite though. I want an offer bad. It would be hard to say no to that, that’s for sure.”
Texas Tech just got a big commitment from DT Breiden Fehoko of Honolulu, HI.
Apparently there is a family connection to Lubbock if you're wondering how the that happened.

OrangeBloods chasing down a possible commitment right now.
They've said it's a 2015 skill player who is not a QB.
Max Olson: Texas just landed a commitment from Houston North Shore RB Tristian Houston.
I figured they were going to wait until summer with him, but I'm not mad at this pick-up.
Agreed. I think he'll be a good fit for the offense, but I do think it's odd timing with Kirk Johnson set to make his decision, Guice coming to town and considering our position with Warren. I'm thinking the staff sees Johnson as a safety/athlete, Guice as a long shot and can't wait on Warren or sees him as an athlete as well. That's how I see it, at least.
From Eric Nahlin: [Tristian Houston] is a good schematic fit for [outside zone], has good burst and will carry the 210 pounds the staff wants in their 'smaller' running back.
I like Kirk at safety.
For Warren, I think Strong is prepared to go the distance in that recruitment because he's handling it personally and knows Texas is in great shape.
Quotes from RB Tristian Houston after his commitment to Texas (OrangeBloods):
"I was in class today. My coach called me down, told me that the Texas coaches wanted to talk to me," Houston said. "I called him (Coach Robinson) up, they offered me and I committed right there."
"It's close to home. It's a great school, and they have a tradition going on there," he said. "They have great backs. I want to be a part of it."
"I don't know yet exactly what I'll bring, but I'm going to bring something with me to Texas," Houston said. "My strength is my running ability but I think I'm a combination of both (a runner and a pass catcher)."
"I'm very relieved. I feel great. It's a stress off my shoulders," Houston said.
Meant to also say that even before Houston committed, I haven't been sold on the idea that Stevenson sticks until National Signing Day.
We'll see how that one goes.
There is a rumor out there that Texas offered 2016 WR Devin Duvernay of Sachse today, but it isn't true...yet.

WR Jake Oliver is out for the rest of spring practice as he recently hyperextended his elbow.
FYI the spring evaluation period begins today and runs through May 31st, so the coaches should be hitting the road soon.
"College coach can use two evaluations per athlete during this period. One for athletics and the other has to be for academic evaluation. If the college coach does both evaluations on the same day, than the coach is granted another athletics evaluation of the athlete."
