Some OKC fan who trolls multiple basketball forums. Dude was especially annoying on ESPN game boards. Has a burning hatred for the Spurs, don't know why.

I still don't believe OKC will lose this series but that game basically guarantees at least 6 games out of this series. If somehow it goes to 7, there is noo way Grizzlies win game 7 on the road in OKC, although they did surprise us all tonight.

It took a lot of mental toughness to come back and win that game after the ball kept going OKC's way, so I'm impressed they managed to find a way to win that one. Lots of crazy opening playoff games recently...

I don't see why you guys continue to underestimate Memphis. When they had back to OKC up 3-1, you guys are gonna look like idiots.

Their offense is horrible. As spurraider21 pointed out in this thread, they get into their sets with single digits on the shotclock. That is unsustainable. It's crazy they even won one game on the road. They'll lose one at home, lose game 5 on the road, and the series will close in their building at 6.

The only advantage Memphis has for the remainder of this series is that Scotty is still going to be the coach of the Thunder... don't think it's enough to win the series though...

Milking the clock is irrelevant to the actual quality of their offense

There's nothing wrong with their offense other than the lack of an alpha scorer. They cut, pass and screen well and pound it inside.

Nope. Their offense is horrible. MethRefs will increase the pressure defensively as the series progresses.

they're not "milking the clock". They have no structure offensively except drop it into ZBo in whatever post position he can get through the first 20 sec of the shot clock. Gasol is camping at the top of the circle looking to facilitate without being a threat to shoot. They run backdoor cuts occasionally, but Sef and the other guards don't fall asleep.

This was a fluke game that exposed the MethRefs because they play their core guys too many minutes and they can't keep up the intensity. But Grizz ain't winning this series. Clips may beat them though, since they can monkeyball and get out on the break better than anyone.

You're literally missing all the screening and cutting action that happens when Conley enters it into Gasol. There's the hand off action they run, PNR, seals to free up the weakside, etc. THey went away from that down the stretch when they were up 10 in favor of ZBo isos on the right side, you're right. But for the majority of their game their offense was generating nice ball movement and easy buckets

The only thing you have a point about is they usually dont shoot so well from the field. Everything else they did defensively is going to happen again and again in this series. They're gonna bait Westbrook into chucking, Durant will have to work extra hard for his points. The other s on that team aren't gonna do . Theres no breathing room for them, when they get the ball its like a game of hot potato to pass it back to Russ or KD

Does Splits even know basketball, tbh?..only a dumbass would not see what the Grizzlies are doing..they are running a high low action with the occasional cutter from the corner three..it works against OKC for a few obvious reasons..first reason is that it takes out whatever advantage athletically OKC has by position..a high low action is suppose be defended by having solid bigs who are able to be in position to guard the play..Serge is severely overrated and can't guard a real big like Gasol..Randolph has an advantage over anybody who is guarding him, tho Nick Collison gives him fits, he's still Randolph's ..The Memphis coach doesn't get enough credit for having a great gameplan..I saw this problem developing in the second half of game one and I don't see much OKC can do other than swarming the post entry..

the action works well, and its why memphis has been having more success than anticipated offensively. often times the ball stops around the top of the key and doesn't move, as they wait for the action to unfold, and they often have to run multiple plays until they get something to work. there were times where conley/gasol held the ball at the top of the key until about 7-8 seconds on the clock, where z-bo finally broke free and got his hands on the ball. they had to rush a bunch of shots, which led to some awkward looking shots from zbo which were just destroyed by ibaka.

their motion is fine, but they need to make an effort to break into their sets a big quicker to avoid that. ibaka's blocks typically lead to easy transition buckets, which memphis can't afford to allow. its almost as bad as a turnover against a team as fast/athletic as the thunder

I can't believe people are trying to argue that Memphis' offense isn't abysmal. It relies on Conley floaters and Lee long twos in as their perimeter scoring. That's horribly unsustainable. This was literally the best game the Grizz could have ever hoped for from their smalls, and they squeaked by a Thunder team that was being assassinated by Westbrook. If anything, this demonstrates just how big the gap between the Thunder and Grizzlies is.

acting like Udrih, Lee and Allen shooting 15-21 while Durant and Westbrook shot 23-56 isn't a fluke.

Memphis wants to play big, tbh..that's their gameplan, if it so happens that the first pass to initiate a perimeter motion offense stalls, they always look to Randolph or Gasol to go to work..if I was Memphis I'd tweek my offense to into a quick high low action..you're right in that they get into that set late, but I think that might be by design..Memphis plays a brand of basketball that can allow them to compete with anybody granted that they have a mismatch down low and lo and behold they do..if OKC has any chance they are going to have to swarm the post entry and whoever is guarding on the perimeter is going to have to guard the cutter or slasher tightly..it'll leave whoever is on top of the key on an island, forcing them into a one-on-one game on the perimeter which favors OKC obviously..take for example some of Conley's turnovers tonight, there were possessions that featured OKC guarding these slasher/cutters, and the high low action never developed..it left Conley to do work one-on-one far out on the perimeter which he can't against Russ or Thabo..

Again, it might be by design..going forward it'll be interesting to see if that got sucking piece of coach Scotty Brooks makes it a priority to guard the high/low from developing..if it so happens that Memphis gets into that set, the defenders on the perimeter need to guard the play as they did in spurts..Memphis scored many times on that alone and if there are no changes, I don't even know what to say about Brooks..it almost sucks to watch this unfold because you know what Memphis wants to do, yet there is much difficulty in stopping it..relying on Brooks to make any changes is like dousing yourself in gasoline and playing with fire..

Memphis hit the jackpot with their new coach..instead of playing four down like any other team with bigs like that of Gasol/Randolph, Joerger has promoted ball movement and offensive sets which utilizes the talents and versatility of Gasol..
