What a surprise: It turns out that Cliven Bundy, the deadbeat cattle rancher who has become a hero to conservative politicians and pundits, is nothing but—well, besides that whole deadbeat cattle rancher thing—a racist:
“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro ... because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

of course, he's only "wrong" in blatantly expressing his racism that Repugs nearly all sympathize with (see Ryan's budgets, Bishop Gecko's 47%, incessant Repug/libertarian dog whistling, aryan/KKK/militia/white supremacists, (black) voter suppression) but prefer their anti-govt HERO shut up about it, esp during an election year. Obvious from the post that we have many experts here on the breeding and selection of blacks as slaves. Of course all of the are from the left. Ought to tell people something.
Not a word about the conditions that have been created by these same leftest that have destroyed the families of black people and created a group of young blacks that think nothing of selling drugs or shooting up the neighborhood, while the leftest who run these cities do little or nothing to make the neighborhoods safe or try to persuade the young people to stay in school and further their education. What a waste of humanity.
So far all I have read is what Bundy has said was taken out of context. I have no idea how the subject was ever brought up, do any of you know? And spare me the sarcastic remarks I am asking a legitimate question.

I think he doesn't understand how bad some slaves had it. He does correctly point out that life off the government dole isn't a life worth having. He seems to understand in generalities however that as slaves, the blacks had a better family unit than today.
So why do some see him as an Uncle Tom? Shouldn't Cosby's message be every bit as meaningful as MLK's?
But he's been living off the government for 40 years.
