There are terrible calls of course, but they typically hit both sides. I think unlike Stern who tried to protect superstars, Silver is letting everyone play and as a result the underdogs are doing much better against the stars, every team feels like they have a chance.
They took away a lot of the superstar touch calls in the regular season. Reminds me of last year's finals, LeBron/Wade took way less free throws than I thought they would.
Durant/Harden are getting completely exposed when they can not get touch calls against the likes of Tony Allen.
LeBron is still far ahead of Durant in physical plays, out-muscles everyone and plays physical defense.
Unfortunately the "letting them play" thing is really hurting Spurs passing game, when everyone and their uncle swipes with very little fear of touch calls, it is much harder to play precision and Spurs have the weakest overall team in physical strength and struggles with finishing at the rim as well. If it is an RPG it would be like asking the mage to outdamage a warrior in melee range while taking away half of his control spells.

I do agree with Hit, Dirk has been affected as well as he has not been getting his typical ticky tack calls that he was accustomed to getting. I have seen it with other stars in the league too.
Hit ruined with his analogy though lol.
Fault the front office for building a team full of those type of players.

Stern hasn't taught the new guy how to send orders down at the right time and manipulate games for ratings yet!

Pretty much. That's why when a player/team has it flowing the advice is to get physical with them to disrupt them. It works.
I think the officiating has been as bad as it's ever been this year, and the league hasn't even scratched the surface with their apologies. But the Spurs haven't been the victims of poor officiating in this series, they've been the victims of not showing up for the first round. If the Grizzlies and Wizards can play through the horrid calls they've been subjected to, then the Spurs have zero excuse.
I agree with the officiating around the league being particularly bad this year so far. Hopefully it will shore up in the later rounds. Last years NBA Finals was one of the best officiating series I've ever seen tbh.
Like mentioned the Spurs aren't losing because of officiating.
Definitely seems like the stars not getting the calls like they have in previous years. That said, it does make for more interesting games with record pace of OT games. The home court advantage may still prove to be crucial.
I figured the Spurs would get beat by jumpers once in this series, and that was game 3. The Spurs also decided to not suit up anyone but Manu for one game, and that cost them. Teams that are coasting, settling for jumpers, and letting people by them on D don't win at the free throw line unless they have Kevin Durant on their team.
the officiating has been terrible this year. So inconsistent it's not even funny.
Until tonight, I even see the refs waiting to see if his shots go in, If they don't they call a foul. And what's with dirk shoving everyone.
